dog odor removal

my husky seems to keep peeing in one spot in the house, i dont know why, i cant figure out if maybe he really needs to go out and cant make it cuz some people in my house are lazy and im not around all the time to help him.
i am trying to help him get outside quicker and earlier.
does anyone have any good remedies to getting the urine odor out of the carpet? i dont know how long its been there but its really bad smelling right now. any help will be greatly appreicated!

Give Nature's Miracle a try. We always have a bottle or 2 in the house, and it works really well. It is non-toxic and is safe to use around kids and pets. Once it dries, you can also sprinkle regular baking soda on the area, let it sit overnight, then vacuum in the morning. We actually use baking soda on our entire carpets because of it's odor absorbing properties, and because it is non-toxic.

once you get the smell out you have to fix the behavior too. you're gonna have to catch him in the act, either just as he's about to, during, immediately after take him outside to reinforce that thats where he's supposed to go. even after he's done do it, and give lots of praise when he goes out. Dogs live for praise, and yelling at him in the house won't help because their minds dont operate like ours.

well the thing is that hes good about it in every other room. this room is the closest to the door which he goes out of to go outside. so im wondering if maybe someone isnt letting him out when hes looking to go out (i still live at home with my parents and my brother, im not home at night, seldom inthe day cuz i have to work and go to the police academy at night) so this could be a possibility.

another reason why i think he may be peeing in that one room specifically is cuz that is where our old dog (who we had to put down about 2 months before we got the husky) used to sleep and stay at all the time. she had a weak bladder as she got older and had a couple accidents, not large so i dont know if that could have anything to do with it either.

but either way i feel like i have to find out the cause behind his peeing in the one room to solve it, right?

It's probably a combination of someone not letting him out in time and the spot where a dog has gone previously.

I'll second the Nature's Miracle suggestion. Our old dog had a pretty weak bladder and we had a lot to clean up the last few months of her life. That plus some baking soda always did the trick.
