Independent Camera Shop?
Im not sure if this belongs in Classifieds or what not but i figured if i put it here it may help more people.
Im looking to buy a new (possibly used if a goood price) DSLR i have my heart pretty set on a Canon XSi and i before i go ahead and order it online i just was wondering if you guys knew any independently owned camera shops around...
this way i can see the camera and such and maybe haggle the price some.
any advice is appreciated

really, the best prices that i can usually find are at b&h, and you dont have to pay sales tax if you order online. you can go to another store to play with it, order it from there.
if you want to order used, i suggest keh.com, i've bought quite a bit from them and their ratings have always been dead on for the quality

There's a good small family owned camera shop in Montclair. If you want to look it over and play with it, you can see if B&H in the city has one on the floor. Their prices are a little higher than other places though.

B&H was my original go to place.. it does seem to have the best price with the best reviews and all that good stuff and I JUST REALIZED that this place beach cameras is gonna charge me tax... they did offer a free mem card but the value was only $10.. so that didnt equal out..
i just figured id ask.. to see what other people think.. ill still wait around till tomorrow to see what people say.. and if i dont find nething better ill go with B&H
thank you guys keep the good advice coming!

Generally speaking you'll never get as good of a price on a camera in a shop vs online.
ANY discount a shop might be willing to give you can quickly be eaten up by sales tax that you wouldn't be paying online.
Small electronics shops are sadly becoming a thing of the past.

In all honesty, if the local place is pretty close in price including sales tax but doesn't beat the online price, a few extra dollars isn't going to break your bank account and it's always nice to a) help the little local shops and b) have them
be able to have in person help and support and go back to ask questions or get repairs. An extra $10, $20 or even $50 isnt that much when you're paying $600-1000.

Exceptionally helpful, VERY expensive. I went to mason gross school of the arts right around the corner from there and the only time I went in there was if I absolutely needed something that day.
