Thinking about getting a tattoo...
lately i've gotten the urge to get a tattoo. I want to get one about my dad because I feel like we have drifted apart lately.
He was a mechanic until 3 years ago when he became paralyzed. He also raced a 68 camaro while growing up. So in a sense, I'm continuing to live the life he can no longer live, and I want to get a tattoo to represent that.
Any ideas?
btw, this will be my first tattoo and will probably be my only one. I don't want it too big and was thinking about putting it somewhere that could easily get covered by a t-shirt.

bicep, shoulder, or back. somewhere with meat is supposed to hurt less, i personally don't mind it though.
i'd do like a car part or tool. like a open ended box wrench and maybe throw a memorable date or something on it. i am considering my next one to be a piston and rod on the ribs. could do like the tree or something drag racingish

youve never even driven down the track!!!!!!! vin - upper bicep/shoulder or upper back/shoulder is probably your best area to get it... i bet you want more after you get one... but thats a great idea man... but only you know what you can link you to your dad and have it mean something... give it good thought though because its for life....

yea, extremely true about the meaning. I got the idea a few days ago and am just getting anxious thinking about it. I was thinking about something like 3inches by 3inches on my shoulder or upper bicep. I'm probably gonna spend a few weeks thinking about it and get it in early spring.

I think this might be a better idea. Tattoo's are forever. Even with lasers they will still usually leave a scar.
At least think about the idea for a few weeks - months. It is easy to get excited about something and then after a week / month / etc. you realize its not such a good idea.
Either way, sorry to hear about your father.

Advice
Just a little advice from my friend who does designs when you finally decided on what you want to get make a print out picture and hang it all over your house your fridge bathroom mirror car etc. This is a reminder that what ever you choose will be with you and if you can take that then its a good choice.
