have a general question i need answered.....

i am on a durango/dakota forum...i sold a mopar performance pcm to a guy out of my dads 2000 dakota r/t...

in the listing i said it was out of a 2000 dakota r/t with security...

now the kid got it and his truck wont stay running for longer then liek 3 seconds, now i find out he has a 99 and theres a couple small differences apparently....

i offered a refund if the pcm was bad but the pcm is good, just not for his truck. do i give him a refund or since its technically his fault for not checkin compatability first i tell him hes stuck with it?

i dont wanna be a dick but i also need the money and he got it cheaper then most are selling for....

what to do?

you told him 2000 and he has a 99? What's the problem? His problem unless you want to be extra swell and take it back. If you want maybe offer 1/2 refund and he keeps it, god knows if it is any good now.

best I would do is the 50/50 option. what are you going to do with it now? you have no idea if he screwed it up. you don't know its condition

Yeah unfortunately things like that are always buyer beware. If he didn't check and ask questions that is his fault.

It's his ****up. He should of researched if your PCM for sale was even compatable with his truck. Now, if he damaged the product, that is even MORE his problem. Because now if you offered a refund, you wont be able to sell it , because its garbage. You would lose money AND an item for sale.

I say its his fault, he bought it, he keeps it. Also, if you do agree to a refund, you dont know if he blew it up or not trying to make it work, so you could be out the money AND the PCM.

lol i kinda felt like there was more to it... decision process timee!! weigh ur options... do u need the money from the pcm or do you need the grill shell?

if u ask me id still keep the money and say EFF the grill because theres no garuntee hed let you use it neways even if you pay him.. some people just arent as cool as you... you dont wanna learn that the hard way..

You said it was a 2000 he has a 99 and it didn't work he should have researched if it would work or not. So you sold it as advertised so you shouldnt have to refund him at all.
Also with every place you go to all electronics devices are sold as is no refunds. Since there's not way to check it out if he damaged it or not.

Don't refund it. He should understand if you can't do it. Theres no way to tell if it's damaged. He could have dropped it or who knows what else. Plus, if he ships it back to you it might get wrapped up in the crappiest box with no cushioning.

Any store that sells electronics doesn't refund, there should be no reason for you to either. Just too many things that could go wrong.

Yo Austin just tell him you've asked around and been told the PCM could now be dead and theres nothing you can do about it now.

Did he program your pcm with the security? By the sounds of it starting and stalling after three seconds, the security is not allowing it to keep running. even if he doesn't have security the pcm is still looking for the security codes to keep it running. Either way i say that it is the guys fault to not check into compatibility and/or not getting it programmed properly. changing modules now of days is touchy because the computers usually only get programmed once and then can't get changed until they get sent back to the manufacturer .

You advertised it honestly and he just didnt do his research. It's his fault. Keep the money and don't take the risk of getting back a bad pcm
