Wow.

I can see breaking one... but three?

Damn.. you don't even qualify for a fail pic.

I would try McmasterCarr or a grangers.

ARP or the dealer for ring gear bolts.

Are you sure you know how to set a rear up?

I can tell you that right now. Do you know how to set pinion depth, backlash, etc? If not, then the answer is no. If you are not careful that rear will howl like a forest full of angry owls. On fire. And the gears won't last long at all.

I think the ring gear bolts are a specific hardness with a shoulder... might want to get specific ring gear bolts from Jeg's or Summit.

Sure about that? http://www.summitracing.com/parts/ARP-230-3002/

Jeg's has 'em cheaper, but you'll have to wait a few days until they can ship: http://www.jegs.com/i/ARP/070/230-3002/10002/-1

I hope when you say you are going to check the backlash next weekend that you mean that you are putting off the entire swap until then. If you already installed the gears and are gonna drive it for a week and then go back and correct the backlash, you will most likely have already done the damage to the gears.

Yeah its not a carb man. You dont try a little more of this, take it around the block and adjust...

If you read up on how to do it its not that hard. I did my first rear with backlash only when I installed a lunchbox locker in my truck 14b. It was a good step towards getting a feel for half of it. I did some more reading and felt comfortable with doing it.

By the time we got around to doing it in school me and my buddy did it in 1-1/2 when it took everyone else 4+ hours. When we were done I realized I had truly wrapped my head around putting them together.

Its the pinion depth thats a bitch though. The gauging blocks to measure the exact depth of the pinion shim you need to use are suppose to be very expensive. Most mechanics and people I know simply use the same depth as the old one, assemble, paint the gears and check the depth with paint then adjust from there.

Seriously just get a book on it and go VERY slow. It took me 3hours til I was confident my backlash was spot on the first time. I did my buddys dana 35 in his jeep a couple months ago and had it together in and hour. Not a single noise out of it and he beats the piss outta it.
