Coming This Fall: 2001 LS1 Longblock

I scored an LS6 and I'm having it upgraded, this Fall when it goes in the current LS1 longblock will be on the market.

Specs:
2001 Pontiac Trans Am engine
Stock except for cam, valvesprings, oil pump, and timing chain.
Cam is a TR-224 112deg LSA installed by Rapid Motorsports.
Springs are Crane duals, spring dyno tested by Bruce's Speed Shop prior to installation.
Oil pump is a Thunder Racing ported LS6 piece.
Timing chain is a Katech C5R "JWIS" heavy duty chain.
Front and rear main seals were replaced w/ new GM pieces pressed in using dealer J-tools.

The heads and oil pan have never been off the engine. 2001 was the year GM upgraded rod bolt design so no need to open it up.

I don't drag race, just commuting and the occasional road course driving event. Mobil-1 synth oil only. Mileage was 31,xxx when I bought it from Contemporary Corvette, I've added just over 24,600 since then. I have Blackstone Labs oil analysis reports from 2004 and a few other years, will get one from this year prior to removal.

Just selling the basic longblock including front & rear covers, valley cover, valve covers. No oil pan, pickup, intake, accessories, sensors, wiring, balancer, etc.

I have an accurate leakdown tester and compressor in my shop, will post leakdown #s when it's out. Buyer is welcome to re-test.

$1,000 w/ no oil pan, or $1,200 with Vette bat-wing pan.

for a G ill take it.

i wouldnt need the oil pan or even any of the covers. maybe you could take em off and sell them seperately?

And any better of an idea of time frame?
want a deposit? start payments now?
car still currently being driven?

oh, and ls6 or ls1 block? part number ending with 168 is ls6 block.
also is theres no "pedestal" on the passenger side of the block in front of the head, its an ls6 version.

Time frame hasn't been nailed down yet, I'm still working with Geoff @ EPS on a cam spec.

I can't see taking a deposit and sitting on anybody's money until the engine is available for sale, at that time first one w/ cash on the barrelhead takes it.

The engine is currently in my car and being driven ~ once/twice per week depending on weather.

And it's an LS1 block.

UPDATE: I'm nixing the project, got accepted into grad school and start right after Labor Day. Between that and work and family it's postponed for at least 2 years.

I'll probably sell the LS6 I was prepping, in short-block-plus form as the heads and lifters already sold. Still has the Vette oil pan on it, bottom end was never opened up. It's out of an '01 Vette, factory built as an LS1 but in an LS6 block. Will post a new ad after I re-plan things.

I am waiting for feedback from Katech and/or ECS on something I saw on the deck surface that I wasn't sure about, if they say it's good to go I'll post an update. Pics are attached in case anyone is familiar with it.

The small gaps between the cylinder liner and the block deck at approximately 12 o'clock are on cylinders 2 and 4, none of the others have them.

Might be nothing, might be a show-stopper and need a trip to the machine shop. I wasn't going to assemble it until I heard back, and I don't want to post it without a conclusive finding.

edit: the cylinder bores are reflecting the carbon off the piston crowns, that's not surface rust...they're still showing factory cross-hatch.
