So, when is the best time to Buy/Sell?

Okay so in your opinion when is the best time to buy or sell an F-Body?

I'll tell you my opinion, i bought the 95 Camaro in my signature nearly a year ago just before thanksgiving and winter was rapidly approaching. I got it for cheaper than i thought possible, then due to unfortunate circumstances i had to sell it in April when spring was really kicking off and i made profit on the car even though there were a couple of things wrong with it.

So i ask you..........

you hit the nail on the head.

Always good to buy in the off season and sell when they are in season.

I would assume you got the luck of the draw rather then bought and sold it at the right times

Agreed. This is a good time of year if you want to buy a car, and the seller HAS to get rid of it. Someone who doesn't need the coin will hold out for their price, and if they have to wait until spring, then so be it.

Hopefully you are right my car is under a cover on jack stands and full of stabil with the battery in the garage charging for the spring. I'm holding out for the right buyer because I don't need to sell. I would feel bad for someone who has to sell a sports car in the winter.

yes well i have the IROC which will become a classic next year and during the first week where it becomes like 50-60 degrees and sunny that car hits the selling lists. Looking to get six thousand for it if i can get even 5500 i would be doing backflips out of joy.

anything will sell with the right combination. its really a few factors. how much the good outweighs the bad, price compared to others on sale at the time, how bad the buyer wants it compared to how bad the seller needs to get rid of it. ive sold a few fbodies in the dead of winter and made profit on them, but i tend to get awesome deals and negotiations going.

its different with every car.

edit: you are gonna have a hard time finding a buyer for a thirdgen for 6 thousand bucks, especially when you can find awesome ones for around 2-2500 bucks. ive seen ls1 swapped thirdgens going for around 5 grand. so yeah.

yes i agree but there isn't a thing wrong with this car other than minor things such as a little paintchip in the headlight area, alternator and few other missing pieces but heck if i cant sell it for that much i'll just say fire her up, shes wicked fast and has a very very nice deep rumble.

Worst comes to worst i'll keep it! I don't have to sell

thats the best position to be in when selling a car. that way you can hold out for your asking price without having to succumb to lowball offers or lowering your price bi weekly. tire kickers and joy riders are the worst. make sure theyre serious before you let them test drive. if theyre under 21 tell them to bring a parent with them if theyre serious.

Late Nov into Dec is the best time to buy as people are thinking Xmas and the extra money will help out big time. Any time from April through Jul seems the best to sell. But the market gets flooded at that time so you can do better a little later after things thin out.

i got a steal on my car in september. most likely a combination of the off season approaching and the fact that the kid really needed the car sold.

The Classic Car Club of America states any car 20-45 years old is a classic.
