I guess I hit the mark...
That my reenlistment code was given out or something. For the past week I've gotten a call from an Army recruiter. Wants me to reenlist badly. I know that the contract would definetly kick ass, but I don't think I'm gunna go for it.
Today he called and I asked if I could go to Marine Corp. boot camp and then just switch to The Army. Made him laugh. I explained that all of my close friends are USMC. So it'd be like being a trader.
Figured I'd share that. I havent posted in awhile.

Yea but I won't do it for the money. I realy couldnt care any less about signout bonuses.
Its hard to explain. When you want something so damn badly and it was taken from you and there was absolutely nothing you could do about it except take it with a "Yes Sir." That bus ride home from P.I. to NYC was the worst hours ever. How to explain that I'm home. How to look at someone and be like "yea, I messed it all up and I fought all I could but here I am."
I really hope I can meet that recruit, who is probably a marine now, and explain how badly I got screwed. But yet I have the most utmost respect for him. One because he is a Marine and two, cuz its all integrity.
Just venting.
Thanks

if you dont want to do it for the money, then aside from the pride of being USMC, you obviously want to serve the country. Is it not better to serve in a branch you didn't originally want than to sit home and be a civilian?

QFT.
find that desire again and fill it where you want, when you want and for how much you want.

Do it up man, if you can I say go for it. You know what you want to do in life, so just get that head start, and just admire the Marines as you already do. Their is absolutely no shame in doing that.

"Semper Fi".
Is there a way to wait after the presidential elections in November for the sign on bonus? I mean I realize it would take months before any quick decisions are made anyway regarding the new president's policy on war in Iraq, etc.
I mean I am not the political type, nor the armed forces type, but would waiting to see who becomes president and what they decide to do with the war/conflicts in Iraq and everywhere else make a difference with anything in terms of serving?
Just curious. I am asking, not implying.

What happened to fighting your way back in? A few pages ago there was a post that you might have had a way back in.

He went to Marine boot camp, got kicked out for some reason (he's said he can't talk about it). He thought he had a way back in...seems that didn't work out.
I say go Army. If all you want to do is serve, then serve. It doesn't matter in which branch you serve if all you want to do is serve. But if it's about being a Marine, well, I don't think you'll be serving.

How in the hell did you get kicked out of a Marine Boot Camp? Drugs and just plain crazy are the only 2 ways out. If you really wanted to stay you could have. I have known guys that were dropped back several times to different platoons because they failed to pass certain requirements, and had to do it again. But eventually they stuck with it and made it. Even recruits that had weight issues were in boot camp for 6 months or more still stayed in it and became Marines. So if you want to be a Marine that bad do what you are told and just get in and do it. The 1st month is the hardest after that it gets easier. Dont make more excuses if you want to just serve then Army is just as good.

I see exactly what you are saying but there are 100s of ways to be dropped out of boot camp. For example the dumbest thing to get kicked out for is to keep wetting your rack. Its call FTA: Failure to Adapt. Just about a whole training plt. from F Co. got discharged for huffing right guard while I was there. Recruits get dropped and picked back up all the time. They will drop you for anything. On a training day 45 they can drop you back to a training day 3 just because they feel like it.
As for the if I want to serve than enlist in whatever will take me, I will NOT do. It will make absolutely no sense to most but being a Marine is completely differant than any other branch. I'm not down playing any other branch of military service but there IS a differance. But yes I could easily explain my discharge now but I'm not posting it for the whole world to see.

And stop saying only a Marine would understand it, you are NOT a Marine, you are a civilian. You got kicked out of basic, remember?

I never said only a Marine would understand. I said "It will make absolutely no sense to most but being a Marine is completely differant than any other branch." Never implied I was a Marine. The part of "a Marine is completely differant than any other branch." is a statement. I know that I'm not a Marine, I live with it everyday. It just came up that I might of had a way back in but it did not work. I guess its more of just being stress about knowing that a number of my friends are getting ready to ship to Iraq and I won't know what its like. I won't have the chance to prove that I want and can be a Marine.
But thats it for now, so I won't post anymore updates I'll call it on my wanting return the Parris Island.

all i can say is that if you want it bad enough YOU can make it happen. none of us can do anything for you and it sounds like you're just feeling sorry for yourself that you got dropped. grow a sack and find out what you need to do to get back in. man up, because if they let some of the people i knew from high school become marines, they'll let just about anyone in. get your **** together and find the way that will bring you your dream.

You want to know how Iraq is? Get a big big oven, set it to 125*, and put in a few rounds of various ammo, from 9mm to 7.62 and a few .50's in there, and put on 200lbs of equipment.
Thats Iraq.
Sorry, I dont see the desire to throw myself into a wasteful war in the middle of a worthless land with a bunch of warring factions of a religion, a war that has been going on since Muhamad died.
If al Queida shows up off the shores of NJ, ready to invade, Ill be on the biggest gun on the boardwalk, but untill then, I dont see why you would throw your life into a situation like that to "serve your country".
