You would have to call for a quote and to find out each individual companies rules. I doubt it would be much for your '84 per year, but the 17 year old thing may kill ya. If you can't get specialty insurance you can qualify for QQ registration with many insurance companies "limited use vehicle" policies too.
Best thing you can do is start making phone calls. Be sure to have all the receipts and stuff for the car ready because they will likely end up asking for them if you wanna do an agreed value policy to make sure you get back what you have into it instead of just book value.

No. If you have a parent or other 25+ year old driver insure the car and you get caught driving it (even a speeding ticket) they will cancel your policy and deny coverage.

Some of the companies won't even write you a policy if you have driving aged kids under 25 living in the house.

When I got the car registered they would not let me put QQ Tags on it, however The Hammer has his car registered QQ and was 23 when he did it. As for the insurance, when I got my car on the road (I was 19) they would not let me register the car in my name and insure me, so we had to put it in my dads name and put me as a secondary driver. I am sure I could change it to my name now, but it really wont make a difference. You're probably going to have to have someone else put it in their name and put you down as a secondary driver.

I found out that Progressive on limited use, pleasure driving In my mom's name as me as a secondary driver would be about $70 a year more then Collector insurance. Will they let me use regular insurance with QQ plates?

We use Hagerty for our collector car insurance. Our sons, 21 and 23 are permitted to use the cars, but only according to the normal restrictions on the policy. Thier driving records were checked prior to their being added to the policy. Doubt anyone under legal age would be accepted for coverage, but it's worth a call.

QQ reg has nothing to do with the insurance.
