If you do not have access to a press you can use a vise and a pair of sockets.

If so, they are held in place by injected nylon. I was able to get them out by heating the lobes with a propane torch. You will know when its hot enough, the nylon will expand and shoot out the injection holes like a snake. Then the joint can be driven out with a socket and hammer. Otherwise, you risk damage to the shaft, especially if its aluminum.

Might be, i haven't done them with my LS1 shafts yet. But, on my thirdgen 1LE shaft, there wasn't.

I had a problem on my buddies surburban's shafts with my propane torch not being hot enough. I had to take them to work and use oxy/Acetylene torch. Just be careful because the grease can make the caps explode/blow off if you get them too hot.

You just need to swap to a 1350 U joint for the 9 inch? Correct?

 | The 00 ls1 aluminum shaft I got from Charlie had the OE joints held in with injected nylon.

All it takes is a few minutes with the propane torch and it comes apart without beating the heck out of it.
