One of my co-workers lives just over the PA border in Delaware and commutes up here to Princeton everyday. She bought a dashcam shortly after starting that commute and has a great "gag reel" of idiotic driving on file.

Driving the Rt1 and the PATP everyday I'm sure I could make a good highlight reel. Would have been nice to have a dash cam when I watched the Audi driving like an a-hole and plow into the back of an 18 wheeler.

I've seen a few set ups that you can use your old phones with, records in a lower video format and self deleted after 24-48 hours. I don't drive very far anymore but it would be handy for long trips!

I wonder if having a dash cam set up would lower insurance. I already drive carefully because of the price of gas, would be nice to have something to back up my side of things if I get wiped out by one of the lunitics I see everyday

no it wont lower insurance rates. but it might get someone out of, or into, trouble if something comes up that is on video.

I would like a dash cam as well. But when your buying one you might want to consider what you want. If your looking for a high quality video, if you want a camera that is only a dash cam or one that can be used outside of the car, video and battery life is another thing to consider, also frames per second. There are 2 ways you go when buying one there are Dash cams meant for just that or you could go with a GoPro. I would probably go with a GoPro so I could also use it outside of the car for other things as well.
