Perfectly possible. Several years ago two guys died when the Ford Taurus they were driving was split in half by a telephone poll on Jeff's street. I think the story was they were trying to jump the car off of one of the many hills.

Basically it 6 kids were driving real fast, they hit a poll, 5 kids survived the driver died..

normally, I would feel very sorry for the people involved. However, from what I understand, the driver was being a jackass with a car full of people, crashed and killed himself.
