Got Pulled over

By a good fair lawn cop! Cudo's to him

I was casually driving down rt. 208 from work at about 11pm and a NJ Transit bus cut across three lanes kinda cutting me off. I was only doing about 55-60. On my right comming onto the highway was a local Fair Lawn cruiser, he emedietly came right up my butt, I pulled over to the right lane slowed down even more & closed my cut-out. As soon as I closed it he pulled me over!

Came up to the window (I rolled them all down) and he asked for the usual, handed it over nicely. He takes a peak up & down my car and says "This is a real nice car, Id hate to see you loose it... Are your windows tinted?" I didnt lie and said yes, and he goes "you know you could get in trouble with that right?" I obviously answered yes not playing dumb. He simply says, well my wife is from hawthorne, I can't give you a ticket, but defenitly get rid of the lisence plate frame on the back!" I was kinda stunned because he didn't even go back to his car he was just handing me my paper work back and said, "have a nice night, drive safely" I obviously was ****ting my pants at that moment!

So +1 to the Fair Lawn PD!
& 1st pull over for the tint.

He was saying the frame is ugly. He was a cool cop. You two have thick skulls. Not all cops are dicks. Hence why he didnt run Alex's info or even mention the cutout.

Alex - nice one!!!

Alex - It's Kudos, not Cudos.

I got pulled over for a license plate frame once. After I got the warning, I grabbed my tool kit and sat down behind the car to take it off. The cop rolled by and called out the window, "You don't have to take that off!" I was like, "Didn't you just pull me over and tell me that it was illegal?" He had this somewhat stupid look on his face and then just drove away.

Yup, license plate frame, window tint, no front license plate, cut-out, no cat(s), obnoxiously loud exhaust - are all good reasons to get pulled over and a possible ticket. Yet, people try to break as many of those laws as possible and want to blame it on the cop. Go figure! I just wish they would pull more people over for talking on the cell phone, using a Blackberry or laptop. Those are the people creating the dangerous driving environment. I think 50% of the cars I pass each day has someone talking on the phone while driving. So much for that law.

Cuz... if you are involved in a head on not wearing your seatbelt, and the other driver is, and you go through the windshield, you might just end up going through yet another windshield onto the other driver's lap

Well, techincally cell phone use is still a secondary offense. They are trying to rewrite the law (or istitute a new one) that makes it a primary. I haven't heard if it's gone through the state assembly and all yet.

Tsar: the government doesn't think the masses are intelligent enough to make their own decisions concerning safety so they try to control it.

Genie: I had heard in the summer that it was made primary... maybe that person was just an idiot tho

Well things I could have been ticketed for:
-Lisence Plate Frame
-Window Tint
-No Front Lisence Plate
-Tail Light Black-outs
-Open Cut-out (noise)

Im glad to have a clean driving record, I wasn't really doing anything wrong I figure it was more of a check up or an excuse to look at my car

I remember someone asking here about it a couple of months ago, and about a week or two after the discussion, I heard the news on the radio state state legislators were trying to write a new law to make it a primary.

actually it is federal law that makes it so that covering any portion of the lettering on a license plate is illegal.
