LS1 fuel pump reviews & ?'s

For those of you with modified LS1 engines, did you need to change your fuel pump or system? how much power can the stock unit support? anyone running 500+HP/ 600TQ on a stock unit? If the pump was changed, did you increase the size of the lines?

Although the stock ports measure 3/8" OD, there are about 1/4" ID whereas a steel 3/8" OD line is about .33" ID.

generally, based on what ive read, youd want to upgrade the fuel pump if you put a bigger cam in it, might need injectors as well. and if u go with a 150shot or higher, youd want 2 upgrade the fuel pump to be safe. depending on your application, i dont think u have to change the lines with a 255lph fuel pump either.

+1, even if its working well, its a safe thing to replace with a new one. If you plan on spraying a big shot you could always run a stand alone fuel supply...

As far as reviews go I installed a Walboro 255# pump in my 95 Z from Racetronixs. Price was to good to pass up and the install went smooth as can be. No complaints so far as it meets the demands of my motor!

I opted out on the hot wire kit at the time, but future plans do include a 98+ plastic tank and the hot wire kit.

Did you do this because the stock pump is insufficient for your engine or just to 'know' you have enough fuel. Did you increase your line sizes? roughly what kind of power does your engine have?

addon:

Has anyone replaced the fuel filter to install a larger one? I had my fuel filter for 1 year, it clogged and sure enough burnt the wires on top of the fuel pump causing my car to stall and die in the left lane on the Turnpike. This all happened days before leaving to iraq so I cut a the access hole removed and replaced the pump in 2 hours.

well, i'm boosted so i needed to make sure i have enough fuel. i'm switching them out for Aeromotive inline pump, boost ref. regulator, and braided lines and new fuel rails.
