How much paint
How much paint, in gallons, would you say is needed to spray a car with three coats of color? I imagine the clear coat is different since its thinner, right? Maybe just two coats of clear.
And what type of experiences have you guys had with PPG, House of Kolor, etc?
Any best guestimates?

1.5 to 2 gallons of color, plus appropriate thinner, plus about the same clear. You'll also need a primer sealer. I like PPG and Dupont. I haven't used House of Kolor yet but I've heard good things. You'll want 2-3 good coats of color and atleast that much clear, if not more so you can wetsand and buff it all nice after.

I've only used PPG (thats what this black and clear is) at the shop I was at we used only ppg. I've got I think 4 coats of clear...this is after wet sanding and buffing..plus about 2 more buffs with swirl remover/machine glaze and a few waxings. It was painted spring of "03

Thanks guys. I'm pricing the stuff now to get an idea of what I'll need. Hopefully I can find someone willing to spray for me, without taking it to a shop.
Still working on it.
