Every Saturday We Play on the Clay

hey gang,
since you have heard justin and i talk about saturday night short track racing so much i figured i woudl throw up a link to just some of the highlights from saturday night at new egypt speedway, only about 10mins from great adventure.
we normally spend our saturday nights at bridgeport speedway in south jersey this season, but they rained out so we went to NES as spectators.
understand that this is just a small sample of what happens every week at the short tracks. left out of the highlights was the finish of the superstock feature taht saw the top 5 all with in .649 at the checkered.

p.s. Tad Cox, the driver of the car that takes the big hit and ends up on it's side was fine. he was actually unbelting himself by the time the track crew got to him.

I used to work there last year (06 season)...I had so much fun!! Was totally new to me so everything was a learning experience and got crazy hard sometimes but man do I miss it!!

Unfortunitely the new owners have screwed it up pretty good....poor track...used to be a great track....they lost alot of drivers this year and the stands are never full anymore...it's really a shame....I guess good runs have to come to an end at some point.

Yea, I've heard lots of talk about the new owners. Didn't get over there this year to see for myself though.

the previous owner of new eygypt, john grosso, lives near where I work. I always hear him drive by (he has a GMC sierra with some exhaust work). he also owns a car wash right down the street from where I work.

john grosso was a great track owner. almost always had good track conditions and there were very few nights that didn't have some little thing going on for the fans.
the new owners are not doing as good. lack of knowledge and equipment to prepare the surface and some questionable calls have put their future in question. two of the biggest problems being the very popular intrnet know nothing that they hired to help promote and the track announcer who likes to pick fights with fans in the crowd.

I was the handicapper....just for that one season though. I just loved getting yelled out while putting the lineups on the board down in the pits...."why is he before me" or "where the hell is this lineup"...LOL...it was all good fun though. My first month or so sucked b/c I was completely new to dirt racing (some of the other NES crew guys used to rag on me and call me "the straight liner"...LOL) and being put in that position was like being thrown to the lions....LOL...but it was good b/c I learned a lot about the sport, the cars, the drivers, etc. in a short amount of time.

btw...the owner's name was Rick Grosso...just fyi...

Rick wasn't the actual owner, just part of the family.

I don't mean Ricky...as in #24 modified driver / Jimmy Horton's car owner, I mean his father Rick....I don't know if there were other Grosso's involved...I do know Rick Sr.was at least part owner.
