Historic Vehicles?
So, in looking at the DMV.org site about Historic Vehicles I can tell that a vehicle qualifies as a Historic Vehicle if it is 25 years old or older, however, I can not find anywhere that list restrictions on Historic Vehicles.. The real question here is, are there any restrictions on Historic Vehicles (IE: can not drive more than 3k miles per year, etc). I know there are restrictions for Collector Vehicles. The perk of a Historic Vehicle is that there are no inspections required, so I would be able to do whatever I want to it without worrying about passing inspections..

I think you are only legally allowed to drive them to and from shows and parades. I'm not sure if that is enforced though.

i thought that the restrictions came from your ins. company. someone on here said that in nj there are rules about how often you can drive it but ive never seen or heard them. not for historic anyway.

If you look at the DMV.org site, it says that Collector Vehicles are limited to shows and parades and 3k miles per year, but it doesn't say that for Historic Vehicles. http://www.state.nj.us/mvc/Inspectio...clesExempt.htm

It looks like now that anything younger than 25 years old can be a collector if it is in limited supply. Historic is anything older than 25.

Yeah, after looking at it again, i don't see the parade thing either... But I am still confused and can not tell whether or not a Historic Vehicle would have a mileage limitation.. I might just call the DMV.. (wish me luck..)

Ok.... So, I just got off of the phone with the DMV. If your car is 25 years old or older, you can register it as a Historic Vehicle, but it should only be used for Parades or Educational purposes (not that they check to see where you are going or coming from), and there is no limitation on mileage... Collector cars are 25 years or younger and have to be limited production, but you will have a 3k mileage limitation. You don't HAVE to register as historic if you don't want to, and your car can pass emmissions inspections.

If you have a car from 1949 or older there is also Street Rod registration.

alot of older cars i know of are registered as a normal vehicle. the tail pipe tests are ALOT more leanient for them so its not a big deal passing inspection.

It is proper syntax in SQL for comparing columns but not NULLs.

Exactly the opposite. Unless you know SQL. Then you are a dork like me.

yes, the restriction on historic vehicles is one day per week, to and from shows only.
they are currently trying to get that changed so that you are only limited by your insurance company as to how many miles per year - and it does vary between companies. the new bill, however, is stuck in committee right now...
