Sneak Peek Of My Newest Toy

Bought this about 3 months ago and finally got some time to start painting it.

80 Sportster XLH
Hardtail kit
Handmade oil tank
Fender welded to hardtail

I'll have more pics as I start to reassemble it. Hoping to be done by spring.

Oh and the paint is a flat black done with base/clear for longevity and ease of cleaning. Semi-gloss black base and PPG 2060 Pre-Flattened Clear.

Yes...brand new chrome spoke wheels. I just have to get the rear tire mounted and order my tail light/ license plate bracket and I can get the rear wheel assembly on. The front forks need to be chromed still and then I'll have a complete roller.

Won't have time to do the engine until this winter though....I have 2 cars to finish painting first.

Oh and here's a pic of the bike when it was all mocked up before paint....to get the general theme.

1. Get hard tail on the road
2. Enjoy 300 mile ride in 2 days
3. Schedule chiropractor visit

Enjoy it. Guess its a good thing they're repaving the roads in Hillsborough huh?

Ape hangers are illegal in NJ aren't they?

They're not full apes...my arms are pretty much straight out from my body with them. Although I may change them out anyway for my own comfort. We'll see once I get them back on the bike again.

With the upcoming increas in PPG's prices I may start trying out a few other brands. I used to shoot DuPont before this but I feel PPG lays out much nicer. Not sure I have any local Sickens jobbers around here though.

By the way...I saw the pics of your fathers bike that you did.....very impressive. We should meet up sometime.

Thanks.....hopefully next week I'll get the rear wheel and the tail light/license plate bracket on. I got one of those side mount setups that puts the plate vertical and has a cross tailight above it.

I need to disassemble the forks and send the sliders out to be chromed. After that the roller will be complete. Gonna wait til the winter when I hopefully have more time before I go through the engine though.
