i would guess at the minimum a 94+ wiring harness with computer and MAF obviously. i have never heard of it being done though, not to say it can't be done.

Yes, it can be done. Not sure what needs to be swapped besides wiring harness and MAF, but I am pretty sure there is more.
Is there a specific reason you want to go to a MAF setup?

Not in 94. Keep trying and your statements will eventually be correct.

Its possible by using a '94 harness, maf, and ECM. If you end up swapping your stuff into a '94+ car you should be set. Cant think of any differences in the engine connectors/sensors that would make a difference off the top of my head. Maybe EGR but not sure. If you end up going with a '93 car it is better to stick with a speed density setup. You won't feel a difference between the two. I prefer the PROM ecms myself simply because you don't need that MAF in your air stream but to each his own. Think about swapping into a 3rd gen? Would make a nice sleeper and you'd actually be able to see the back of the motor

Yeah if tuning is the only concern, there are solutions to that. Speed density cars have been around for a long time and are definitly tuneable. I don't know what type of tuning youre looking for but I'm very happy with my PCM4less tune. PROM chips are a lot cheaper than computers

That is actually going to be a pretty complex conversion.
probably better to go with an aftermarket DFI if you're looking to just make tuning easier?
Opti needs to be convertered to a 94+ 93 opti/harness will not work on a 94+ ECM and a 94+ opti harness will not fit into a 93 opti. Could be the whole opti swap, cam, timing cover etc.
Oil sender different, need to use 94+ sender or entend harness
93s speedo is not ECM driven, may need to do something with wiring harness ( from the trans to the speed-o, and need to probably do some reprogramming based on if you have a manual or auto trans.
93's are 22Lb injectors, 94+ are 24lbs, need to reprogram or swap injectors.
Not sure what year it changed by TPS sensor and possible a few others changed, may need to address replacing some sensors.

For all that work you're better off just converting everything to OBD2 while you're at it.

But then he has to worry about CPS and installing reluctor wheels... which I think means no cool double roller timing chain.

I thought only 93's were SD and 94+ were MAF regardless of OBD1/OBD2

yup. you also need to factor in the extra sensors going 96-97
i would stick with 94-95 pending on the availability of the correct timing case cover.
