I just don't understand why someone would want to do that.

There is no performance improvement - it hurts performance.

Its gotta handle far worse than stock
Slower acceleration
Less stable at highway speeds
More wear n tear on suspension parts
Braking must be worse.

I just..... WTF?!?!?!?!

I would guess it is the first lifted 5th gen with giant wheels. I would wager that it will be the first extremely vandalized 5th gen. Maybe you would consider this vandalized
