I can wait till fall because Im due for a phone around Sept/Oct.
I still dont like the feel of the Droid phones. The Storm and iPhone have a solid, seamless feel to them.
Droid has a rubbery, plasticy feel to them.

Meh..I like the iPhone's build quality and feel and for the most part its just a seamless phone in its opperation.
My problems with it is that its Apple. They keep updating the software to make it better, but it has gaps still and again...Apple dominated software as with everything else.
My problem with BB is that they continue to believe that they are a business phone first, and that making phones for the average person just isnt where they want to be, at least not as thier flagship phone.

Despite my qualms about Moto's Droids, the new X looks amazing. Still doesnt have that certain build quality, and the icons still look a little cheapish, especially with the mega-high res screen.
I dunno...gotta play with it.

I guess not build quality, but just how it feels. Looks too plasticky for me when compared to the clean design of the iPhone or any of the current BB designes.

True but I'll take functionality over eye candy any day....Droid>>>>>anything BB could possibly dream of and is right on par with the Iphone IMO.

The X really does have some super impressive specs. My apple friends say it doesnt have a front-facing camera. Well I havent had a need for it, and dont think Ill see aneed for it. In fact, the 3 mics that are built into the damn phone seem to be overkill, but might work out for car reviews.
I like that the phone shoots in 720p 30fps, has a big 8mp camera with dual led flash, 24 gigs of space with the ability to expand to 40gig, and a massive and cool list of apps!
My Storm has proved to be a decent phone, but lacks big time over the power of the Droid, or the prestiege of the iPhone.
Unless BB blows me away with a Storm 3 real soon, I think July 15th might be X day for Big Al.

Yea, I have been watching the Droid X for a little while now. Aside from the front facing camera it seems to be very similar to Sprint's new 4G Evo, and that is a very nice phone. I definitely will be considering the X very seriously next month.

Yeah, the X and the Evo are pretty close. Its been talked about more of VZ's answer to the Evo, not the iPhone.
No one has really ever came out and said "THIS WILL DESTROY THE IPHONEZ!!"

How much bigger is the X compared to BB Storm? I know I wanted to get Droid when it first came out, but that thing is the size of a child, no way i'm carrying that in my pocket.

X is big. Thinner then the Storm, but large. The screen itself is 4.3 inches.
Think of it as a thinner Motor Droid in size, without the keyboard.
Here it is witht he iPhone4

Thanks Al. I guess I will check it out in person and try to stick it in my pocket to see if it's ok..
I don't like how they keep making the phones bigger and bigger. I thought storm was was huge when it came out, but now it's pretty small actually. Soon we will all be carrying iPads around.

I noticed to myself that I am now climbing back up the scale of size reguarding cell phones.
First phone was that Nokia that everyone had. Then I had a smaller Nokia, then 2 LG's and the smallest was my white Motor KRZR.
That was a bit of a heap, so I went to my first "smart" phone with the Storm. Its big, but now a days its ont he small end of the scale.

So um.. new question. This thing is gonna require additional 20 bucks for the plan? "Base" plan + 29.99 + 20.00? Am I getting this right? Having a cell phone is becoming very humbling for my wallet.

Base plan (talk & text) + data plan should be all you need. Not sure where the extra $20 is coming from....

The Droid X can act as a Wi-Fi hotspot for up to five devices. Verizon is charging an additional fee of $20 per month to use the service and bandwidth is allotted at 2GB per month.

Are you sure that i would be able to option this out, and it won't be a mandatory fee like 29.99?

To have a droid phone on VZW a 29.99 charge is required because you must have an unlimited data plan to have the phone. My wife and I both have the Moto Droid and feel its completely worth the extra 60 a month(2 droids)
