All the above could be done away from TTP. You can get spring compressors at any auto parts store. Im getting a brake system flush kit from Matco soon, and most of thoes parts you can get out of Summit or Jegs for teh same price, if not cheaper, then what TTP can.
Its a lot of cash man. Not that I dont trust TTP, just trying to save you some money.

Did my Walbro 255 pump last year in my driveway. I used the Racetronix kit, and it took about 10 hrs all together. I would do almost everything on that list myself except for the gears. Then again, I have a welder. You could definetly save yourself enough money in labor to get yourself some more mods. Thats just my opinion though. Where in North Jersey are you from? I think you told me at the Hooters meet, but I forgot.

I know it's already been said but 90% of that stuff can be done by yourself in a matter of a day, including the fuel pump (why didn't you go with the Racetronix pump BTW, that thing is plug and play). At least give it a shot and call up a couple people for some guidance and help, I know there's plenty of us here who wouldn't mind lending a hand to help someone save some money.

Bitch all you guys want about me not doing thing myself, but I am a checkbook hobbiest. I dont controll this stuff because my parents whom I still owe money to for the car, and the car is insured under my moms name; Wont let me do this stuff on my own. I dont have the patience, space, or the tools to do it. And my parents sure as hell are not going to allow some "Internet Buddy" to do it for me. Their paying for a 1/4 of the bill for mainance parts & repair, so why should I challenge them?

Eh, my dad would encourage me to do 95% of it in our driveway... tools we all can provide, same with space, and a lot of the people here know what theyre doing making time less of an issue than it would be at a shop, where your car is after cars a, b, and c, and then they close at whatever time (granted TTP is very good with staying open late is necessary).

You said that before suspension parts and labor came to 1100m, and you owe your parents 2k on the car... I would probably rather have the car paid off and not worry about debts than have my parents still having contrl over it (you still need to be home by 12 pm?)

Also I think you know a bunch of us on more than "internet buddy" terms

Well my parents know people from the club as either from the fbody club or car friends, i guess it helps tho that my dad has met a bunch of people on here but still... I dunno, this is so local I consider the site more as a central gathering point for a local club, other sites im on are more "internet buddies" like cv6, fullthrottlev6, etc. because there are people worldwide there

I think it was referring to the points that it's more TTP's car than yours in ters of who has planned out and installed the mods... and done the tune ups

i paid for my car 100% myself
i pay my insurance 100% by myself
i pay for all parts 100% by myself
i've had my car at a shop once...when i towed it there after blowing up my optispark so i could have the codes read...at which piont the car was towed back to my driveway so i could fix it

its not because you have a loose noose over your head...it's because you dont remove the noose by paying for **** yourself

btw 1100 bucks for a tuneup eh? i paid 250 for an opti, 100 for a water pump, 40 for plugs...had the car "tuned up" by myself in 3 days and went 14.2 bone stock

fwiw alex i was in the same position as you until I was like 21-22ish...the only mod I had ever done was an slp intake on my 94 formy. Once tim & I were back on speaking terms he helped me mod my truck & with every thing I did I gained more and more confidence in what I could do & do well. Not to mention the $ saved in installing these parts I have gathered an arsenal of tools...everything from my mig welder & air compressor with everything from a blow gun to a paint gun to my wrenches, drills, hammers, pulley pullers & so on and so forth...bottom line is your have to figure out what you want...because if you think your gonna have someone make you a fast car you need to make more hourly then your giving them...or you can make $10/hr & do the work yourself & have a car thats just as fast. If you can do both the more power to ya.

Yah, his parents were cool w/ me showing him how to do front brakes right in his driveway. That's the way to learn. I hope your car is still stopping ok Kasey.

Anyway, I was the same as Bill, and started wrenching on my own car in my early 20's. Now I'm in my early 30's and have learned quite a bit, and have saved my family and friends' quite a bit of $$ by wrenching on their cars too. I've done brakes on my bro's old beater, a window regulator in my mom's '99 Grand Cherokee, coolant flush and fill with new hoses on my dad's old Grand Prix, plus brakes on my sister-in-law's Hyundai (twice, ugh!) and brakes on my father-in-law's truck. I hung a cat-back exhaust system (on my back in my driveway) on a friend's '87 SS for $75, and rebuilt another friend's gauge cluster and installed a speedo cable for him for $100 (in his driveway), along with removing an old alarm system. This doesn't even include my own cars, which have an insane amount of hours into them. My '88 was built by me and my friend in my driveway, with nothing more than hand tools and jackstands, not even an air compressor!

Gotta start learning how to do some of the stuff yourself to save money. It's rough being a college guy and having a car for a hobby. It's too damn expensive to pay someone else thousands to build it, unless you're making $100K a year and have lots of leftover $$ to play with. JMO of course.
