Why do I have it? Why not? God forbid something catches fire, I can at least attempt to put it out.
As far as the garden hose, thats just as bad of an idea. Water against a electrical fire isnt to smart, or oil based.
If you really want to do it right, a halon based system is best. A few companys make them, safecraft being one. They are NHRA approved and the containers are DOT approved.
Ever see that vid online of the Z06 having the nitrous fire? Yeah like 10 mins later the track crew casually strolled over with a fire extinguisher. It wasnt even past the 60 foot mark.
Anyones cars can go up at any time..things can go wrong. Especially true in cars that are modified (especially by people who shouldnt be touching a wrench).
But whatever, its your cars, and your money going into them. Think about it.
Lets all grow up, all the kid was doing was asking for a suggestion. ;x
Peace.
*EDIT*
Your car doesnt hafta be a race car to go up in flames. More street cars burn each year then race cars. And im not talking about your grocery getter toyotas. I mean kids "Race cars". Yanno, your typical home made this home made that compilation of stuff. And no i have nothing against custom fabbing stuff, hell I love it, but most of the time **** is made and done without regard to safety. People just want(think it will) make the car better.
Thnk about it.

100% agree! After seeing a friends car burn to the ground when some type of failure to the stock plastic fuel line or connector broke and pump fuel onto the hot engine and it burned to the ground. that was enough for me to go purchased one the next day! I don't have it mounted to my dash, it's on the roll cage behind the seat within easy reach just in case I ever need it.
