It's not cheating and honestly if its on the car, then its fair game. If I race someone without the juice and then spray them...is that really much different than someone with a turbo upping the boost with a boost controller the next race? Also, throwing dyno numbers around on the juice shouldn't be "false" numbers either because the power adder is still in the vehicle and its what the car is capable of when the system is on obviously. Again I use my turbo boost example. Which numbers should a person post, the ones with the pump gas or the ones with the boost cranked with C16?

The sad thing about this train of thought is that you will be very limited to the amount of racing you do against other people. Having a nitrous powered car gives you quite a broad field of what cars you can line up against and have a good race with... Having a car that can run with the slower cars and the faster cars = more races, more fun.

I've lined up to many cars where we agreed that one of us does/doesn't use nitrous. Is it "gay" that I'd rather make a race interesting and challenging than blow someones doors off or vice versa? Where is the excitement in half-tracking a car or being half tracked by a car?

No, but with other power adders you don't "run out" of power in a literal sense, and there is no delay when you need it (opening a bottle). I see what you mean though. Good point.

It is certainly NOT cheating. It's not like people don't know what nitrous is these days, and it's cheap enough that most people can afford it if they want it.

Uhh... yeah. Even if I don't I take it to the meat of the power and, enjoy the pull of the motor. 450 hp N/A verses 450 hp on nitrous with a 100 or, 125 hp shot around town I'll take 450 hp N/A any day. Pointless, I don't think so. Also, what happens when the bottle is empty? You get your clock cleaned that's what. So, again...I'll take the power there all the time.

I think the key factor here is most people have other work done regardless of the nitrous. So most people are running around N/A with 400+ hp and being happy as a pig in *poop*. I know I'm at the bottom of the barrel but from a dead stop with my convertor I'm a beast. Add the Nitrous ON TOP of that and it can get ugly real fast. That is where the fun comes in.

I can't tell you how many times I'll be f-ing around with someone on the parkway and they think they can almost keep up then it's like ok I've smoked you 3 times already lets put an end to this. Turn on the juice blow there doors off and watch them limp away with their tail between their legs.

Nitrous isn't a power adder that most people use on its own. It's usually above and beyond the head/cam package, or the turbo, or whatever other power adder you have. It's the end all be all to abusing someone just to rub salt in the wounds..

I don't think anyone will argue with wanting the power there all the time. I would love to have the power there all the time but as of right now, I can get the feel and a higher power level as long as the bottle has the goods inside. Plus I can choose when I really want to put a big strain on the motor. Question was if nitrous is cheating and I think its a pretty clear cut NO.

nice arguments, even if they are all over the place. it's not cheating if the rules allow it. dunno if you meant NHRA rules, track rules or street rules, but i don't think it's cheating unless it's specifically spelled out that it's against the rules.

until you get up over 100hp N2O, i don't think compression is an issue, provided you weren't running 14:1 to begin with. most street cars have less than 9:1 (our beloved camaros with an anemic 8-8.5:1), so it's fairly safe to hook up the bottle and go. that's why there has been a resurgence in use. also, i think with the internet's ability to share information, people can get their kit and the smarts to hook it up all in the same day.

That's different. With nitrous you are using a part of your car that you do not use in every day driving. Again, my statement doesn't hold true for full out track cars since all their driving is done at the track.

nitrous is like the extra 2 cylinders that i never had
i like it because N/A, my car is pretty much on par with all of the new sedans out there... probably run a mid-high 14. with the nitrous, it lets my car into the realm of performance cars i guess. while i wont be able to beat a v8, it at least lets me keep up i guess. no one gives v6's running in the 14's any credit nowadays. its the equivalent of a low 12 sec ls1... so when i hit a low 14, or a high 13 on juice, im going to be happy!

It's only cheating if there are some kind of class rules against it and you use it anyway. In any other instance, there are no rules, so by definition you can't be cheating.

a power adder is a power adder .. in the end nitrous cost just as much as a supercharger or turbo set up .. except for the fact that you don't always have the constant strain on the engine ..

as for cheating thats like saying if you take off your turbo i'll race you .. and for all the mofo's that say bottle's are for babies, there the only ones cry'n
