I played hockey up to my Junior year. won two championships, and then retired. I miss hockey, i was in the best shape of my life, and if I try to get back out on that ice, im huffing and puffing by the first 2 minutes. Id say you got time to be a big boy, and have a job, but unless your paying bills, or rent or something, save up your money, and enjoy life right now. I thought the after party was gonna be better, but I miss school to be honest.....not the homework, **** that, but I miss my friends and ****, and you will too, so enjoy the memories.

You only go thought high school once. Make the most of it. There is going to be plenty of time to make money and to fix up cars once you're done with school.
Besides winning hockey games gets more girls than flipping burgers.

It doesnt exactly work that way. If you enlist and plan on getting a degree and becoming an officer, once you have your degree, there's a rather extensive selection process you have to go through to get accepted to OTS. You're not the first person to think of that so dont count on it as a definite.

Even if you go to Military College you won't come out as a 1st LT. Everyone starts at the bottom of the officer rank list as a Second Lieutenant or Ensign (navy/coast guard). And to become a Second Lieutenant you need a Bachelors degree and pass a LOT of interviews, testsing, and paper work.

Are you talking ROTC here? Or like an actual military academy?

Don't put every penny into your car...Life comes at you a whole lot faster than you think. Enjoy your car, but save some money. I wish someone would have given me this advice years ago.

Theirs multiple routes to become an Officer in the military but in the end you still have to go to OCS/OTS & you still need to go through the same processing.

x2
and i'm glad you decided to play hockey. i played softball for 9 years before I stopped playing Sr. year and regret it a lot. I quit because of team politics, and it made it impossible for me to play in college, which I really wanted to do. The yobs for high schoolers are out there. they may not have muhc glory, but there's always jobs.

Yeah, I was just talking about going to college while im in the service. and then goingt through OCS and all that jazz.
this was from my marine recruiter but maybe its different in other branches, but I heard that if the marines see you fit to be an officer youll become an officer and if they dont you wont... Not really as picky as you guys make it out to be, but then again, i shouldnt listen to the recruiter.
BTW i just got 4 yob applications

Play hockey. I played in H.S. and I sucked, but it was still good. I have nothing but great memories from it. I played pick up games in college and played in adult leagues up until a few years ago, improving the whole time. High school hockey is probably the last opportunity you'll have to play full-check/contact hockey. Most men's leagues are non-contact for obvious reasons. Go for it, you won't regret it. The job you have now is replaceable, but you'll never be a junior or senior in HS again.....
Do it......and do it with passion. Don't be half-@$$ed about it.....

If you join the service then decide to become an officer you will be an NCO, non commissioned officer in the Marines. You have to apply through your company commander and I think you have to serve a minimum of 2 years before you can apply for NCO school You won't fly as high as commissioned.

NCOs are cooler though and in reality run things. But you won't make as much.

oh, and then when he pops out of OCS and he's a louie, he won't have the respect of the men because he was a "college boy"... blah blah blah
finish school, then go to OCS. not the other way around. once you have the degree, the armed services pay for it - and you'll get a paygrade you can live with, as well.
