Nice to see the millions in R&D the Army paid for to develop some of that stuff for the trucks they did for SEMA and such is finally getting used for production versions.

and the 6.2 motor can't be called 'Boss', as Ford doesn't own the rights to that name anymore.

So let me get this straight, in a world where trucks are moving off of showroom floors at the pace of zero, and where people are hard for cash, adn jobs are slim....they decide to come out with an even uglier truck then they usually build, and slap a 55K sticker on it.....just so you could go jump it. They brought this truck out at a bad time, and to top it off, it has no visual appeal to it as well. you know for 55K, you could get a really nice Vette, and have some left over...you could buy a new Camaro, and have 20-15K left over. I dont see what makes this truck worth 55K, cause surely plastic doesnt cost that much, wich it looks like 90% of this truck is made out of anyway.

Would have been a cool idea like 5 years ago. Today its not going to sell.

For 55k, I would not rip up sand and mud with it, it would barely see snow.

Also, the front end is totally wrong, pretty much butt ugly. I think Stevie Wonder designed it.

Wow as someone who offroads I would never seriously wheel an independent suspension truck. Nor would I ever jump a 4wd truck... Its like they said "We wanna build a pre runner but it will never appeal to the average joe if its 2wd like it SHOULD be"

that reminds me of when the T-100 was first introduced. trailer rated? uh, no, you can't get a trailer hitch for it. snow plow? uh, no, the front end wouldn't hold a plow up off of the ground. bed weight capacity? uh, 50 lbs.

it was a joke of a truck. still is, even though people are buying them and putting blowmasters on them so that they *sound* like a real truck...

In defense, it sure isnt made to be a wheeling truck, it was built more like a pre-runner type design, only with 4wd.
But see, beyond the obvious flaws of this truck, it appeals to a small niche of a small niche's niche.

There is a video of this truck tearing up the desert. A small, tiny bit of me wanted to be in that truck.
But the larger, meaner part of me beat that up, spit on it, and reminded me its a Ford.

god they make them more uglier and uglier. I think they made the "ford" in the grill huge so that they can show how much bigger of a failure its gonna be.

I don't like it. I think the front with the big "F O R D" across the grill is ugly.

Ahhhh, glad to find someone who agrees with me! I don't like the Ford stock BIG chrome one either. Butt-ugly comes to mind.... Lets hope GM doesn't do it's usually copy the other guy tactic and we have an ugly-truck race on our hands.....

my blacdout- i think you would be a little surprised with 1. now that gas prices are down how many people are flocking back to trucks and 2. how many people don't care and want a truck that stands out like this. i think its a good truck for people that wanna look like the off road but don't but want people to think that. agreed?

If I had 55K to spend on a truck I'd get me a Duramax and piss all over that thing! I've got an old school 6.5 Turbo Diesel Suburban with a few bold-on mods. I'll race it towing an 8000 lb trailer anytime. Heck, mine's 4WD, we can have a towing race off-road if they want!

Well, I'm not Blacdout but I disagree with you. I think the boom of big trucks and SUVs is over and that people won't want a niche truck like this. Next Memorial day when gas is jacked back up we will see people dumping their trucks and SUVs all over again.

I'd still buy a Durmax for the money. I do agree that if you have 55K to spend on a pick-up truck your really not worried about fuel prices too much! It's still pretty ugly though...

The only problem with the Duramax is that a base equipped one will run you in the mid 50k range, whereas a Ford or Dodge will cost close to 20k less for an equally equipped truck.

Only comparing if I had 55K in my pocket with nothing else to do. I keep my old 1999 6.5 turbo diesel Suburban cause I don't have 55K buring a hole....

But thats my point if its prerunner designed, why the 4wd? Only to appeal to mindless deep pocketed idiots who think that offroad = 4wd...

Uh...Base Dmax powerd 2009 Silvy 2500HD is 34.3. Ford F250 HD with weaker Powerstroke and 5spd auto (Allison in the Silvy is 6), is 33.4.
Dodge with Cummings is 35.3k

So even with Silvy's brand new platform, stronger engine, and stronger trans, its mid priced to the suckass Dodge and weaksause wana be F250.

As for a Dmax equiped Silvy vs the Raptor over the same terrain...uh no, the Raptor would tear it apart most likely.

I don't know where you got those numbers, but the Dmax is a nearly 10k option just for the diesel. You can get a Ford with the 6.4 for far less than a Chevy. And the 6.4 is a lot stronger than the 6.6. It has best in class hp, tq, and towing capacity, and is 3k less for the engine.
