i doubt its an LT4, unless swapped, the firehawk LT4 in 97 had a T-56. since this one is auto, its most likely a 700R4, LT1

wait, i thought the 4L60E didnt go into full production until 98, and if so, wouldnt it be the non electrical 4L60 which was another name for the 700R4 as of 1990

4L60-E was used in Fbodys starting 94. The last year a 700R4 was in a Fbody was 92.

I can find you sites that say bigfoot is real and living in middle america and that Elvis was spotted in a downtown mall. You believe that too?. They are right that the 4L60 i basically just a renamed 700R4 but even so, it wasn't used in a Fbody since 93 then.

ok, so if the 4L60- E wasnt put into full production on both GM's RWD platforms until 98, wat other automatic 4-speed overdrive transmission did they use?

Everything on a auto Fbody from the factory 94-02 was a 4L60-E. They made mods some years (like TCC lock up in 95) but they are all 4L60-E's.
