I could think of a few...
Football
Basketball
LaCrosse
Hockey, even if its a bunch of pissed off figure skaters, there is still a hell of a lot harder to move on ice, keep your balance, hit a 3 inch wide by 1 inch tall cylinder of rubber with a stick with a bunch of bulky equipment.

Rugby comes to mind. IMO none of the "big 4" mainstream American sports are grueling.

football you get breaks all the time
basketball is no where near a tough sport
lacrosse is the only thing that comes close to soccer considering its hockey on a soccer field lol
its a lot harder to stop a soccer ball then it is a hockey puck

id like to see people that talk crap about soccer actually try and play a 90 minute game...thats 45 minutes of playing a 10 minute break, then another straight 45, then possible overtime....no breaks, only real men can play soccer

really pumped for this game sunday

First off, no.
MOST High School football in non stop. There is no breaks for commercials, and most people play both sides of the ball, I know I did.
I never got a "break". I had to push 230-300lb people out of my way, or tackle 180-200lb fast moving targets, not to mention trying to do both with 21 other people around me. And we do that for 3 hrs straight, with a 20 min break in between.
As for professional football, its 100x more taxing Im sure. People are faster, stronger, and its much more complicated.
Im not going to downplay soccer, but dont downplay football.

Basketball is not a tough sport? Its the most injury filled sport out there. Its sprinting up and down the court, 5 guys chasing 5 guys. No goalie, no defensivemen that can sit back and watch...its sprinting up and down the court over and over and over again.
Soccer is not all that bad. I could run for 90 mins staright no problem in hs, my problem would be the tallent aspect. Local "Shore Conference" football is not filled with big D1 type people, not a lot of massive dudes with tons of strength. All the guys I played along side ran on both sides of the ball, non stop for 3 hours, or more.

Burnin, go try skating then get back to me

I'm not taking anything away from soccer players because they're unbelievable athletes but don't discount how touch hockey is.

Hey Al.
I played both Soccer & Basketball all throughout my life, and did a couple years of varsity Swimming.
Football, Hockey & Basketball are all tough, don't get me wrong, but there are just some things about them that keep them from claiming the "most grueling" title.
-Basketball: Man, I loved the fact that the court was so tiny; meant *a lot* less running. Fouls were awesome, we'd get to hang out around the Key for a good minute and catch our breathes. Switching from Man-to-Man to Zone defense made life much easier too. Good times!
-Football: Stopping after each down sounds awesome. Just the idea of not having to run full out at any given moment eases my heart. Lining up at the line, catching that breath as the play clock ticks away, then getting to do it all over 22 seconds later when the play ends.
-Hockey: I have the most respect for hockey because it's hard as ****. You just never know when or where that hit is coming from. The long ass stick & blade make stopping the puck a lot easier, and you gotta love being able to glide rather than actually having to move your feet as you would in other sports (jog) when play slows down. I love Hockey, too bad the devils couldn't clear the puck during game 7 against the 'Canes this year; I was there, that hurt to watch. Hockey's no joke.

As a soccer player, you're running... all the time. There is no zone defense, you dont' get to stop and catch your breath at the line of scrimmage or at the foul line. You run every second of every minute, and you sprint balls out when you sense your man may have a chance to make a move.
Anyone can run for 90 minutes, but not everyone can run at the same pace as the game, then sprint at someone else's demand, then repeat, for 90 minutes. There's a big size difference between a soccer field & basketball court.

I totally forgot about Lacrosse & Rugby; they definitely don't get the appreciation they deserve.

Being hit in high school football is like falling out of a one story building. Being hit in college is like getting hit with sludgehammer. Being hit in professional football is like being in a car crash. Soccer is hard for what it is. But dont take anything away from football. i dont see any 350lb soccer players. You need a combo of speed and strength for football. Football is just different from soccer. Yes you get a break in football, but while your playing its full force. Being a lineman is pretty much being a sumo wrestler for 4 periods. Qbs have the entire defense wanting to send him to the hospital. RBs same thing

For a reason. If you weigh 350lbs in soccer you better be the water boy, that's way too heavy to be running the whole time.

i also dont see any soccer players benching over 400lbs and squating over 500lbs. Put brian urlacher in the field and let him hit some of these guys. They wont be getting back up. Like i said soccer is good for what it is but dont take anything away from football. Just too totally different sports and difficult in their own right

because there's no reason for it?? That's like saying I don't see any football players bicycle kicking the football through the posts.

...and put him on skates and get ready for some laughs..ANY of those "tough guys" in football wouldn't last one shift on skates.....what's your point?
