Because people like this don't lower for handling, they lower for looks.....

It's one thing to have serious camber in the front, since when your goign through a turn, the majority of weight is transfered to the front until you accelerate, by that time your usually straightening up, so its not that necessary inthe rear as it is in the front. If you take a look at the photos you have, the front has alot, the rear, minimal.

The problem is, this is being done to daily drivers, this trick is for race cars that turn alot. It's not necessary to have it in the rear, especially that much ( see above quote answer) but going down the highway, it is more dangerous then safe to have your rear with such an angle. that lip that you are riding on now grabs anything, and will pull your vehicle. I'm sure we've all experienced that when were in truck ruts on the parkway or in industiral areas, imagine that with a camber angle like that, you look like your warming your tires up for a NASCAR race. Also your creating excessive heat on a small area on the tire, weakening it, creating a possability for a blow out. It's a stupid fad that I see getting outlawed soon. I just lowered my car an inch, and have a little negative camber, and it feels fantastic in a turn, but I dread goign over the bridge to A.C. or when I get on rt.72 to go to work, I'm everywhere, my steerign wheel feels like it's goign to get pulled out of my hands.

I think your taking it to heart too much. Theres a fine line in any form of modifying somethign where it is cool, and then it gets out of hand. 1* of camber, maybe 1 1/2* tops, not bad, and helps when turning, that is if your willign to take stock in rubber, and live in a area where roads arent warped from large trucks, but when only a fraction of your tire is touching pavement at all times, it is dangerous, regardless of how it looks. I can see if it's a show car, but when your driving amounts of miles in the same position, it is a potential problem. If it's adjustable like wiht airbags, cool, thats sweet, but you need to take a second and think of the negative affects this has compared to the positive.
I have camber on my tires and If I wanted to I could make my rear have 1* ( little heating trick to do that) But I could do without the camber cause I don't race enough to need it. I'm not sayign your dumb, that's your thing, but it's the people who are doing it aren't exactlythe smartest out there when doing this modification.

but not everyone cares for racing and high performance. Actually the opposite really. One car I saw with this style had a sticker that said "i <3 driving slow". I agree actually. Roads are getting so crowded and liability too high to go racing around the streets. I just took my camaro out and couldn't open it up half past third. It sucks. Makes me want to just have a car that turns heads. Honestly, I was surprised how many heads turned in my friends Miata.
It makes people mad too, which is part of the objective.

Taking a car and intentionally making it unsafe is stupid. Does that make you stupid? If the shoe fits...

yeah and its funny that a lot of these people have bigger wheels and wider tires. usually the point of that is to have a bigger wider contact patch with the road....these people missed that point with 40 percent of the tread just spinning around in the air not touching anything.

I'm sure they like to drive slow, but they still have to obey speed limits, like 65mph on the parkway, which is where the touchy handling comes in to play.

They need to do a sillouhette body kit then, not ricer type wide, but old school wide, like IMSA style solves that problem lol.

It's really not that unsafe, all it does is reduce the contact patch. It's sure as hell safer than slicks and skinnies, its safer than removing safety equipment for weight reduction, heck, its safer than many of the mods we put on our cars.
I guess everyone on this board is stupid. And I won't take your comment as an insult since I didn't do it to my own car. I just like the look of it and have driven in a car like it and know what its like

who do you see running skinnies and slicks on the road???? everytime i go to the track i see people putting their track wheels on the car.
it seems like not only does it reduce contact patch but it cant be good for the supension and wheel studs like that....seems like it would put a big strain on it.
question? how well do you think those cars would be able to pull off an emergency lane change with those wheels???

I'm telling you I've up close seen how a lot of people do this - the wrong way. Absolutely more dangerous. Suspension travel reduced to almost zero, reduction of braking & handling. I'm not disagreeing with some of your points, but that doesn't makes the rice rocket in post #1 any less unsafe or any more acceptable.

I will guarantee that that 240 the OP posted and most of the low cars I've seen will make an emergency lane change better than the lifted jeeps and pickups owned by the members of this board. And don't tell me people don't run slicks and skinnies on the street, I've seen it. My friend's Miata is very nimble, and he has plenty of suspension travel. His car does not crash on bumps, but he does scrape on the road. He has frame gliders so it really isn't that bad.
Again, I wouldn't do it to my own car, but I also wouldn't call it unsafe. Maybe they are causing premature bearing or suspension wear, but that is not really of their concern. Yeah, that ridiculous VW posted on page 1 is stupid because it cannot be driven. I saw it posted that he bent a shock. These cars with 4 degrees of camber at most and scraping the fender wells, are not as dangerous as you guys are making it out to be. Calling it stupid is childish. You guys can't deem a car unsafe until you have facts showing it will not perform the necessary tasks of daily driving. I can promise you that many people think f-bodies are stupid, why does their opinion not count, yet everyone's here is fact?

Jake, when the frame is on the ground the suspension is useless. Not too smart IMO.

The Vinmiester does it and no sway bar either *gasp!* when he took me to JS to get my car, I did not notice any difference in driving characteristics.
