Not ZF, Getrag (still German though). I believe they are actually made by the 50-50 joint venture between them and Ford called Getrag Ford Transmissions Corporation which is headquartered in Michigan.

I was lucky enough to have a college fund that I haven't touched thanks to my tuition being about $200 a semester at mcc. I buy used/borrow books and will be going commuting there another year to finish the ******** they call a degree before commuting to Kean.
Someone said Chevy quality is a lot better now but I beg to differ. The 2010 Malibu that my mom bought after she sold me her cobalt is the same way as the new Camaro, Poor visibility and bland interior.
GM is on the right track and getting better. Maybe new designs like the volt and all of the Buick line up is a huge step forward, But they are still not on the same page as Ford and other manufacturers..

You clearly have not been in the same cars I have.
Grab a seat in a 2010 Fusion, tell me how "great" that interior is. Malibu has a "bland" interior? And "quality" is different than visibility, you should learn the difference.

In my opinion visibility is in a good design which is part of quality. I haven't been in a fusion lately but when I was it was much better then my cobalt but i know thy are different markets.
I am not a ford nut swinger but when I was in the new focus it was an amazing design and interior. The fiesta is a direct competiton to the aveo and blows it out of the water and would have one as a dd if thy didn't put a cup holder on the door which hit into my leg.
There is no such thing as a perfect vehicle and I am just trying to find the one that's the best for me.
I found an 09 wrx for 21000 with 24,000 on the clock. I am going to check it out and see how it rides after being a few years old. I really wish it was the wide body though
Sold the bike today. Being responsible and putting half for the new car and half in a 1 year cd.

ok im gonna speak from a little experience here cause i have a turbo subaru, and i looked at WRX, STI, and the Legacy GT which i wound up buying. let me just start of with i bought mine used with 73000 miles, its an 06. it has no rattles, no strange noises or anything of the like, i did have problems with the turbo up-pipe cat, but i went ahead and eliminated that with a nice perrin piece, and no check engine light, if your are looking to go fast the Legacy GT is a nice choice, it is just as fast as a WRX. You might say how is this possible? well the Legacy has a bigger turbo then the WRX. other pros of the legacy, the interior is very comfortable, way more comfortable than the WRX or STI, the back seat is more practical, the trunk is more practical, and the car is kind of like a sleeper. what you have to remember is that almost EVERY WRX or STI has been beat on from the new. The Legacy GT was a little more Luxury, and less younger people bought it because it didn't get the puiblicity. my car was 100% stock at 73000 miles, and definatly owned by someone who took care of it. ohh yeah one more pro, better MPG than both the WRX and the STI, I am averaging almost 23.5 MPG and thats fighting my way through Bricktown everyday before getting into jackson, where sometimes my instant MPG is 30+. it really is a great daily driver. if there is one thing i have to complain about is that while the aftermarket is there, parts are expensive, so mods come slow. other than that i love it as a daily and it frees up money to put in my formula at the pump, couldn't ask for more

design and visibility are part of design, you can have a horribly designed, completely ugly product and it can still have quality, or you can have a great design and have no quality, they are not related to each other

Subaru's seem to love to eat up wheel bearings.
Fords are the bestest. They actually plant trees that grow oil!!!

I got a chance to test drive it. I also got financed but It was about $2000 more then I was expecting so I need to decide a color and order it after my next paycheck. Here's my review from another site.
Quote:
Today I took out a 2011 Ford mustang gt, premium convertible with a 6 speed and the epic 5.0 coyote motor. On the show room floor this car seemed like It had some pretty big shoes to fill but when I hopped into the car and adjusted my seat I realized that not only did ford manage to do this ford surpassed all of my expectations.
The quality of the motor was amazing, It was so smooth. Maybe I am just used to stumbling and putting around in my 2006 chevy cobalt with 58,000 miles on it but over all I was impressed with the power, delivery and how smooth this road.
The interior was nothing short of amazing. The leather is good(not bmw great) but It sure is better then my GM's and better then the leather on the WRX I decided against! The seats maybe me feel like I was in a lazy boy and certainly made the ride much more enjoyable. The Dashboard and door panels are also good. Also equal if not better then a WRX but way better then my Cobalt and moms 2010 Malibu which seems like a tin can compared to this beast.
What I did not like was the shifter. The shifter was pretty much a pain in my ass. I found it hard to find the gear I wanted and I was nervous of shifting into Reverse instead of first gear! I never drove a six speed before so I don't know if that's how it always was or if its new but I figure I'm in first gear more then I am in sixth and would much rather have it over there!
Overall this car is priced very well for the quality, performance and fuel economy. I am going to place my order as soon as I can figure out which color I want it in!
If you have any questions I can try to answer them.

Matt- I just looked on Ford's website, and I want to verify that you are taking full advantage of their 0% for 60 months financing plus $500 back deal currently going on. If you aren't, then get a cosigner. 0% financing is essentially free money when you factor in inflation and the advantages of keeping money liquid. All that is in addition to not paying finance charges.

Best bang for your buck IMO is the new Camaro. You dont need all the options, I went and got the 2011 1SS for under 30k exactly the way I wanted it

I don't think that would stop me. Once the car is out of warranty, drop the coin on a serious rebuild. Problem solved.

I am not eligible for that deal since the car would have to be in before its over. Right now I am eligible for 0% for 36 months or 2k cash back. I am not dead set on this dealer so I will be shopping around. As for the trans I believe only a small percentage of people Re having problems with it and the warranty is why I am not worried about it...
I decided I would take a few other cars out before i order a new car so I am 100% sure I am making the right choice. If you have sugpgesptions on whap I should take out let me know!

Shop around at different dealers and find what you want. The internet is a powerful tool. That 0% for 60 + 500 will lower your payments substantially. We did it with my cousins 2011 1SS because he was very particular with what colors and options he wanted. We traveled well into Jersey to get his car and it was worth it. Ford has an online locator too.
For what you are looking for, the Mustang or an Evo would be my choices. Likely an Evo though since it snows way more up where I live.

what was the model of your mothers malibu, was it a plain ls or lt ? i sold a few of them and my customers loved them, as for a cobalt there not that bad. there commuter cars and nothing else, unless you plan to modify it. same goes for most cars produced, people expect them to be perfect in all aspects, performance, miles per gallon, great handling, chick magnet and so forth. while i see that you made up your mind make sure it is what you love or at least like a lot.

Sorry but trying to compare a inexpensive, throw away car like the Cobalt to something newer or of better quality is absurd.

Ayers Chevrolet. I also had a little help from my friends in Detroit with GM family pricing, and the only option my SS has is the Hurst shifter. Thats all I really wanted. Didnt care about the sunroof or bluetooth or the RS package or anything like that. All I wanted was the V8, M6 in cyber grey and I got exactly what I wanted
