No - the flyers pretty much fall under the "Oh - look at my pretty car" catagory. The T-shirts are being sold.

the thing i dont get is why cant people jsut listen to what the admins want for a change. People bickering about this and that and oh who acres about the copyrights and we should have cars in the logo need to relax. there are admins of this site for a reason and since they dont want any cars in the design guess what no cars in the design till we get an ok to put them in. granted a logo with a car you can do more with and make it look probably a million times better then a black and white logo but we cant do it. Not yet so lets all just drop the subject and wait.

*end of rant please continue.

Like Justin posted earlier, they are trying to keep the colors to a min. As the more colors that are involved in a logo to more it will cost to have shirts made up. They want to try to make shirts affordable for everyone to own, yet to stand out and show what kind of potentail this org. can offer.

just out of curiosity, and not to drag this thing out forever, but i wonder what the reaction would be to this:

or this:

or, even, this:

i mean, it's clear what they are, but since they are produced without using an actual car or image of a car and done 'by hand', would they be considered original artwork and thereby able to copyright? no, they are not mine so don't use them for anything that you might consider copyrighting, and no, i don't know who the original owner is in order to ask permission to use them.

i agree that the admins have made a decision here, but i don't feel like this place is a stuffy monarchy where one cannot express one's opinion. quite the opposite, in fact, as on several occasions my opinion has been solicited and encouraged. no, i am not trying to start an argument, just posting an alternate point of view.

It is my understanding that pictures of the type that are posted directly above (thanks Jim) are allowed to be used in a logo/T-shirt design, as long as they do not have any GM logos on them (so no Camaro script on that 1st gen fender).

I'm sorry that this has turned into a huge debate. I know that chances are slim that we would be caught using a logo that is copyrighted by GM, however Tim and I do not want to take that chance. We don't mean to sound like a "stuffy monarchy", however it's our names that are on all the paperwork, and we would be the ones hauled to court if we were caught.

Thanks to everyone for understanding.
