Here's the question of the day, do you want something that is good at taking corners? Or just the wtf factor?
I would go with a cheap granny wagon of sorts if handling isn't a concern. Couldn't be a chevy though. Maybe some throw away ford or chrysler product, but not a full size

Prius idea would be legendary. If you can't find a cheap one, I always see early/mid-90s BMWs for next to nothing--no one expects much more than a 16 second pass from those things.

3000GT/Dodge stealth. plenty of engine space, just make sure you get a VR-4 rolling chassis so you have all the rear wheel drivetrain hooked up, and you'll have to cut a trans tunnel.
