Sorry to reply to a mustang reply but I hope your kidding? Plently have hit 12.4-6's bone stock.

jon good times, I ve seen a few Lt1's run those numbers w/ similar mods.

12second v6 not sure if your being a smartass or not but im str8.

procamaroz28 those are good times your uncles running. The norm for those mods on a 2v is mid to low 13's.

naa, there all possible. Not much info on the GT, nor can i see the vid right now because videos are blocked on my gov. pc but Id assume its on ET's ? to hit those times. The time is all launch which is the reason why they dont trap much at all. Might run 12's at the track but It would probably get anniliated on the hwy by a stock 6spd Ls1.

if you are looking for a car to play with and enjoy, i woudl jsut buy the LT1. having extra money around to start modding the car sounds like a lot more fun that making payments and trying to save for mods at the same time.
the LS1 is the better engine, but it doesn't sound like your goal is a serious race car so it won't make much of a difference.

I have owned 11 4th gens F-Bodies. 5 of them were LT1's. Great cars but no comparison to the LS1. So much power and more reliable IMHO. I just sold me 01 SS to get a Vette but i still have my 98 Trans Am with 145,500 miles still put down 338hp thru a A4

thats a pretty bold statement. i might have a freak or something but with my mods im running very similar ets that a LS1 with the same mods would be running. should actually be faster since i have an exhaust leak and its not tuned. i dunno maybe its just my car or something

If money is an issue go LT1, you can build good stuff cheaper. LS1 I think is a better engine but everything costs a fortune for it.
actually theres a few guys i know running bolt on A4s in the low low 12s. with stock gears. then u have the weight reduction people with M6's who drive their cars into high 11s with bad transmissions and no tune!

People with the Driver Mod are few and far between.
Not everybody can drive like him and not every car is alike. you will have your freaks and your turds.

"Evan Smith, our resident hot shoe, has an uncanny ability for running the quarter mile, as evidenced by his 12.89 run in a stock 1999 Z28 (GMHTP 7/99)"
"He was able to squeeze off a best of 12.43 @ 113 mph - in an '03 terminator according to the October 2002 MM&FF"
"New issue of MM&FF has Evan Smith running a best time of 12.25 @ 117.18 in a stock GT500."

Ranger from LS1tech and rangeracceleration.com hit 11.2 with a C6Z06 bone stock, street tires and 10.85 with just drag radials. doesnt mean everybody is going to run that with their vette. a bit off topic, maybe; but im proving a point. just because a car might be capable of running 11s or 12s or whatever; doesnt mean the driver can do it. (and no im not bashing on any1's driving ability)

And i've had my fun killing Mach Fun's. Whether it be from a dig or roll. And that was when i was full weight too

And if those 03/04's put down 360-370rwhp... On paper it looks good. But in the End, its a driver's race.

Im not going to argue this on a Fbody site, but whatever you say a stock LS1 & a stock Cobra are a drivers race. Guess this head to head test was just on paper.

Well aware of all that, and all the articles your referring to. Since you referrenced LS1tech, go look up a member named snorman from Toms River. Hes a member on most of the fbody boards along w/ stang boards. You may know him. He ran a 12.6@115 stock in a terminator right here in Atco. The cars trap proves the power differance in the two not a driver mod. Not sure what Ls1 is trapping anywhere near 115 bone stock, o wait there isnt any. He also raced a member named ultimateoranngess from eatontown(99 hugger SS) who had a stalled(believe 3400 @ the time), gear'd,LS6 cam'd, bolt on Ls1 car and detroyed him stock, they were also clean races. Im sure he posted that in the kill stories as well. Not here to start a flame thread, all I ever owned were camaro's but for you to say that its a drivers race is crazy. Now a bolt on Ls1 and a stock cobra might be a drivers race. Believe me there's plenty of Cobra owners that have ran near Evan Smith times without being professional drivers. It doesnt take the driver mod to get a 12 out of a termi. Most of the average drivers cut 12.8's or so. Both these cars have been out several years and anyway you look at it the Cobra is a 1/2 second faster stock on average and it only gets worse when the modding begins due to the FI @ forged Cobra motor. I understand this is an fbod board and there's bias people here(why should it be different then any other site) but thats no reason to dog the oppositions performance because of brand loyalty. Im sure you die hard fbody guys are tired of hearing this crap so im gonna end my part in this thread right here .

I consulted my mustang friend (hardcore Ford family) and they say no wai. Terminators mostly run 12.9-13.1, occasionally a lil faster, but not 12.6 on stock tires...And the 04ish GT's are like high 13s or low 14s, depending...
Even in the cold last Friday I raced an 03 GT and he ran a 14.0ish (Forget which but I could check). And he had catback/CAI. I raced a S/C Cobra who ran 12.7.

Not to mention I am mainly a GM guy, but realize the 03ish cobras rock, as I am really just a Muscle Car guy, but have GM tendency because of my dad.

You are running the same times as LS1's? My SS with a air lid and headers ran consistant 13.1's at 112mph-114mph's. MY best ET with it when it was bone stock was 13.3@ 108
I would never diss the LT1's because i still think they look better than LS1 camaro's and it was the LT1 Camaro that made me love the F-bods so much. I also don't want to get anyone thinking the LT1 isn't all that reliable either. I had a 94 that had 183000 miles on it when i sold it and it was strong! But mod for mod, and also weight and easier to work on, the LS1 F-Body is the way to go
