As I was eluding to on page 1, that number's inflated.

They're probably accounting for their own labor hours, MSRP of parts that they likely got for a fraction of the cost, free dyno time, blah blah blah. Not doubting they had a hell of a lot in the car, but a far cry from 200k. Anyone that thinks this thing doesn't move out and is a "dud" needs to get out more, though.

Curious to see how this plays out.

Yeah Jersey just sucks, we had our garage broken into, my gtp was broken into years ago, our neighbors house was broken into about a week ago in broad daylight...bottom line is when you've got unscrupulous people that need money for whatever ie that fix, or actual need they will stop at nothing to take what they have to. Its sad but its like this forever people stealing from other people, good vs. evil.

Yeah, that's more like it for sure, but it's still wildly innacurate.

If they are trying for insurance fraud, good luck with that.

I might be mistaken, but I think I read where she said that the car has been through many different setups over the years, so with that total figure they could be including the cost of 2-3 different transmissions, custom turbo kits, etc that would help add the cost up quickly. Not the best way to describe your car's worth though.

I just can't justify putting an amount into a vehicle that is 10x the cost of the car stock, even if you have the money to, you would certainly never get the investment back. As what a few others said on here, the number seems high for what has been put into it, but it's not unheard of to blow money on certain stuff that really affects the total cost number. A certain person I know spent over $50,000 in fuel alone for a place to properly dyno, and tune their engine to run on today's legal fuels..... not a typo on that number.

And $200,000 could of bought them a nice sports car that tame enough for everyday driving.

...but how many folks have 15-20k in an lt1 era camaro/bird on this forum....a car thats only worth 3-4k....its known to happen. They could have bought a lambo, but its a stock lambo. hotrodding is all about taking something and making it faster...if not the world would all have stock vehicles regardless if their 200k cars or not.

I can't justify buying a 6 cylinder camaro when they make 8 cylinder versions as well...even if you keep the car stock its an investment you will certainly never get back.

Can't take that car as a reference as that was an unlimited budget and we dont know what was tried or included in the final tally. BPU mods on a tt supra would yield a lot lower times vrs 4th gen w/say 2g's in alotted mods....but then again is 2g vrs 10g, one is turbo and one isn't and price points of entry to buy the car are different.

Its like the old argument of buying a new zl1 or 1ss and doing the mods yourself..can attain same quarter mile time w/less $ virus the zl1..

I actually added up what receipts i had a few weeks ago and it was over that. Everyone seems to be a expert on how other people should spend their money, but many dont know just how expensive it is to go fast.

not only that but it seems like an exorbitant amount of money, but when you have the type of money these people seem to have, 200k on a car that you really really want and outfitting exactly how you want it seems reasonable.

hell there are people out there that cant understand dropping 10k on a motor but it happens everyday in the car community

Cage is obviously half painted. Seems the unprinted parts were added recently
