i feel sorry for those who are too callused by this for it to "phase them". i wonder if they will truly know when they are in danger. just an observation.
i grew up with weapons of all types and it was instilled in me to always be aware of where a weapon is pointed. i've had weapons pointed at me by people that i didn't/don't consider friends, and i really wondered about my future at each incident. a weapon should not even see the light of day unless it will be used. this is the fuel to the myth about the samurai katana never being drawn without having blood spilled - if you don't aim to use it, then why aim it at all?
i have not grown so accustomed to weapons that i wouldn't be phased if someone pointed one at me. i have weapons all around me no matter what room of the house i am in.
i've changed how i deal with the situation, though. no longer will i passively allow someone to point a weapon at me. if you aim, be prepared to pull the trigger. if you don't kill me, be prepared for the ass-stomping of your life. if you only learn respect from fear...
