Route 1 north from scuddersmill road to Woodbridge ave is completely dry. Took me the normal time to get home. South bound from the same places had one lane closed by south brunswick.

2hrs from Old Bridge to Somerset this afternoon, there was a bad wreck on 287 and they shut down all lanes to land a Medevac chopper. Only way to get here was 18N to the turnpike N, then 287 to Exit 10. All the other routes were flooded, I guess 18 is still under water.

Thankfully no flooding or damage to the house. But No power in milltown. They are saying went won't have it for 5-10 more days. We run our own independent sub-station that is literally 10yards tops from the river. So that was the first thing to get flooded. Ill post some pictures when I get power back. Thank good for my blackberry its my only connection to the outside world.

Looking good here... lol yesterday around the time the rain stopped and the wind picked up, I was riding around with another worker and the perfect song was playing (no homo).
"Cause now im knee deep in the water somewhere
Got the blue sky breeze blowing wind through my hair"
When the rain was coming down, no trees fell. Mainly branches, flooding and erosion. After the rain stopped and the wind came, we were hitting dead ends on every road. Pretty sure on our route me and the other guy found a total of 9 trees blocking the road with power lines. Unfortunately I didn't have any time to get pictures yesterday, snapped a few today:
This road is pretty much washed away for the last 100 yards. One guy lives at the bottom of the road, he had 4 feet of water around his house. He said his basement was flooded to the ceiling.

Its still pretty bad out there. I have to take lots of detours to get to places I need to go. 206 is jammed up in the area I needed to drive, had to just drive past road block signs and see if the route was clear.
Fortunately I have a good excuse to be behind them if I get pulled over

i guess we got lucky here. all the surrounding towns had floods. we only had a little bit of rain for a few hours, no damage, not even the street filled up with puddles. it looks like it just skipped over my town and rampaged the rest

Took me 3 hours to get into work this morning. Walked in at 10:45 AM. 20 min (normal time) to get to Rt 80. Then promptly parked and moved at a snail's pace until Exit 4 on Rt 280. a full hour longer than yesterday. Got my keyfob. If I hear anything similar I'm working from home tomorrow for the first time.

I'm lucky I have a 10 minute drive to work and no real flooding issues to deal with at all. The rivers looks to be going down fast so that's a good sign. It looks like the brooks, creeks and streams seem to be the biggest problems as they are not draining out as fast as the rivers.

Oh boy, keep an eye on the Atlantic and Gulf of Mexico. Some of the models are showing a tropical storm forming in the western Gulf and then coming up into the US and dropping a bunch more rain on the northeast late next week. At the same time, the current tropical storm in the Atlantic is heading towards the east coast and there's a chance the 2 could meet up in our area. We don't need anymore rain right now!
