They cant all have amazing batting averages like the Yankees, but they can put in another hot bat, which Philly has plenty.
NL pitchers might not make good batters...but they have been hitting for most of the season and have a better chance then AL pitchers in the box.

Ughhh, I have to agree with Al(I feel dirty lol).

The NL absolutely has the advantage with this whole DH thing, the NL team can keep their same lineup day to day and when it goes to an AL park they can throw in another solid hitter.

Yes it was. Actually if you really want to think about it, the entire situation wasn't his fault. Ruiz calls the pitches, they agreed on all fastballs...I don't know why they got scared of using slider. Ruiz is magic behind the plate blocking that pitch if it goes into the dirt. It's just frustrating to see one strike away from getting out of the inning.

Well, once you hit the 9th and the game is tied you'll never be in a save situation to bring your closer into, thus the closer becomes the holder. If that was ny in ny you'd have seen rivera n there.

You'd like to think lidge could get 3 outs and almost did. Damon had a great at-bat.

I agree with bobby V on espn the phils blew it by not slowing down the game. They let that inning snowball.

I totally disagree with Bobby V. The guy is an idiot, there's a reason he's not a manager any more. Hearing him makes my ears bleed. I felt like emailing him at ESPN and telling him to clean the jizz off his cheek from the Yankees dicks, seriously.

how can it be ruiz's fault, if lidge wanted a slider he should have shook him off, the pitcher is in FULL control in that situation

Ruiz usually calls the game. I agree, Lidge could have shook him off but they usually go with what Ruiz calls. Either way it was an implosion, something that should have never happened. We should be talking about a tied series but that's why they play the game.

yeah honestly im gonna give the ''blame'' of that inning over to the yankees. they did what was needed to win the game. i hope tonights a bit better with lee pitching. lets hope we can drag this out to 7.

as for al....man dude....you talk TONS of stuff about crap you really have no clue about. AL has the advantage with the DH. Like Jeff said, they have a player that exists JUST to hit the ball....do nothing else. Some NL teams have to jumble up their rotation, maybe play a player in the outfield that normally wouldnt start just to get a nice matchup against a certain pitcher. It can create a little bit of confusion in a time when momentum and familiarity trump.

But thats what you get from someone that lives in NJ and is a Cowboys and Yankees fan. So at what age did you decide to jump on the BandWagon?

edit: its been a great series though.

you mean stairs exists to do something other than hit the ball? please

it is 100% true that it is easier for a nl pitcher that has been taking batting practice and hitting in games all year to bat than it is for al pitchers who havent. and it is easier to slide a hitter into a spot than a pitcher

Nope, no way the NL has the advantage. Think about it. The AL has a solid 9 man lineup of batters that play 140+ games that way. The NL has an 8 man lineup and then has to toss in a backup player to fill the DH spot. How many ab's does that player get all year? 50? How often does he bat more than once in a game? The NL might be used to the strategy of pinch hitting and when to sub the pitcher a little better and possibly be better at bunting.

and you are ONLY talking about the al stadiums, in the NL stadium, the home team has the same advantage, when a guy the al team has relied on ALL season can not play, and a pitcher who hasnt had any at bats or batting practice has to

Yeah, but even in NL parks a lot of times the DH will still play a position and a lesser batter will sit. And the lesser batter still makes a better pinch hitter than an NL batter because he's had more at bats during the season. Pitcher batting comparisons are pretty much meaningless because NL pitchers don't really bat that often and half the time it's bunting anyway. So a guy hitting .089 is better than a guy hitting .069 isn't too big of a deal. That's just the way I see it.

I was born and raised a yankee and cowboy fan. My football number 74 comes from my father, who's idol was Bob Lilly, Defensive Tackle for the Dallas Cowboys forever. One of the greatest to play on the line. I have a picture of me in a Dallas tshirt when I was 2 years old, so go **** yourself on the bandwagon talk.

NL has the advantage.
They have a 9 man roster...dont start throwing out figures of 8 and then sometimes they bring in another guy... The 9th guy is the pitcher, and that pitcher has seen more at bats then any AL pitcher.
But when they go to an AL park, they get to put in a bat-only guy!! Where the AL has that all season long, no doubt, but you dont put some suck-ass guy in for your DH...you put a big stick in there.
But when the AL goes to the NL park, the AL line up is now 8 plus pitcher, sans one of thier bats, while the NL has its full, seasoned batting line up that have played in 160+ games together.
In the AL field, its a push. In an NL field, the AL is at the disadvantage.

no i think the plan is to come back to NY and win at home. yanks did'nt need this game at all. plus with lee pitching you would figure philly would win.

well see

Looks like **** man...really looks like ****.
2-3-4 for the Yanks up. If there was every a time for a rally, its these guys.
Tex, if there was ever a time to earn that mega-million dollar paycheck, its tonight.
Time to swing the game back into our favor.
