well from what i've heard, the t5 trannys are not the strongest out there, supposedly thats why they never came behind a 350. I'd suggest a t56 if you can afford it, otherwise a 4 speed. JMO, maybe other people here have other ideas or info about t5's though. (i just put a t5 in my monte ss behind a mild 350tpi with no worries though)

You could get a Tremec TKO trans. They make on that is rated for something like 600 ft/lb of torque. It's just like a T-5 but WAY stronger.

what're we talking about? 700 hp/tq? no worries with a t-5. why a stick with so much power? IMO, you'd be better off with an auto. in any race between two comparably equipped cars but one has a manual and the other has an auto, my money would be on the auto. much more consistent ETs with an auto, as well.

unless you want to step up to this or this. then you're playing with the big boys.

I broke 2 T5s in a 84Z with a 355 CI motor. The first time it broke I had 2-3 shift at WOT and it broke ( I heard is the common failure), third gear / shaft is weak? I traded it for a rebuilt and a year later i Killed it. Not sure what broke I was driving home from AC adn it locked in 4th gear. When the shop pulled it apart they said parts looked melted?.

You can check with a company G-force trans. They sell both the peices, or entire T5 that can handle 600HP.

lol i really like those lenco's...

i know id be better off with putting an automatic behind all that power but its going to be a mostly street car with some track abuse..and the stick is more fun on the street...im planning on haveing the car make enough power and look stock enough to not have to worry about losing to anyone because i missed a gear..
