they are not gone. they filed for protection from their creditors, which was a wise move since one of their creditors was going to foreclose on the loan they extended to them and liquidate their assets. now, let's just cross our fingers that they are able to produce some capital and pay a substantial portion of what they owe.

I doubt they'll have the capital this time, they just emerged from it last year. Maybe they should have jumped into the hybrid market and made performance parts for those.

the whole idea behind them picking up the mom&pop stores was to offer a "one stop shop" that offered everything from the carb to the intake, and beyond. not a bad business model, but the excess weight dragged them down. now that they're floundering, i wonder if they won't try to sell off some of the dead weight? they could always stick with carbs. grant's company isn't that big; certainly big enough to steal some market share, but come on... everyone has a holley carb in one of their hot rods.

See, I always thought that the problem was their carbs were always too expensive, so many people buy used ones. $400 for a carb? Really?

Chapter 11 = reorg. Not liquidation.

From what I read they had a lot of OE work that dried up in the past year. And I don't mean carbs.

What are you saying,Holley priced themselves out of buisness? It's either a $400 Holley or a $1200 fuel injection system.

Or a $100-150 used carb, and a (up to) $100 for a trick kit rebuild and some of your personal time and you have a (relatively) new carb for about $250. I just got into carbs and honestly it is soo much cheaper than FI but I think a hunk of metal that is cast zinc that the mold is what, 40 years old? the bowls and body should cost almost nothing to produce. Also the carbs without the choke horns cost MORE than ones with the horn, WTF is up with that?
I can see how some of the new aluminum carbs with the billet bodies, metering blocks and throttle plates could cost more but zinc is cheap and old technology.

Yup, that's my point. A brand new 4150 750DP is $434. You can grab a used one and trick kit it for $250 at the most.
