Your definition of "LSX"?
Ok, I was reading on another forum about how someone wanted to put an "LSX" badge on his car but ended up getting flamed by others for the reason that it wasn't a "GM performance Parts LSX block". Most people just associate any ls-series motor as an LS-"x". That's how I am.
Do you think the term "LSX" should only be used when referring to the GM performance part 454 or so cubic inch blocks?
With my engine swap, I was considering a sticker on the rear window or something just to show it has a different motor. I like some of the LSX badges and decals. The motor in my car won't technically be any specific type, it'll be an ls6 or ls1 block, with ls6 heads a big cam and bolt ons. So putting an "LS1" emblem wouldn't be quite right, nor an "LS6".
I might only have it on an engine cover.
And something like this...

The way I saw it, was yeah it meant LS-1,6, Etc, but these days all the motors are a combination from all the series, so X in my mind was "its built with varying parts"

Agreed. IMO, LSx means that it's LS-based. It could be ~anything~ in that family that's been modified.

Context is important. My Camaro has an LSx in it, but it does not have a 454 LSX block.

If you use the badge based upon the gmpp block they have a point. ...
What would have happened if you cared about people's feelings when you cut up a 1le

it was not a 1le.. lol
and I made sure the Formy getting cut up wasn't the last one of 901 '02s built.
I just thought it was crazy that almost everyone got on the guys case because he put an "LSX" badge on his ls3 camaro.

I think if you have a stock displacement then go with that. For example LS1 or LS6 5.7L, LS2 6.0L and so on, but if you change the displacement than you can use the LSX badge. For example a LS2 block that has been stroked to 402 or LS1 stroked to 383 and so on, or if you're using an aftermarket block that applies too. Just my opinion. LSX refers to an LS based engine that has been modified. So you should be able to apply LSX to any LS based engine. Personalty I don't want to advertise what I have so I'd rather not have any badging on my car at all.

I've noticed that LS-equipped cars often end up gravitating towards each other anyway, be it at car shows or just recognizing each other on the street. If you want to say that you're affiliated with the family of LS-cars, then why not slap a LSx badge on there and boast that? I couldn't give a **** less. The people that get worked up about this stuff are a special breed of stupid.
Frankly, I'm debating "ITSAV6" for my license plate, so take my 2-cents for what that's worth

I hate the "LTX" and "LSX" nomenclature anyway.
Say Gen 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, etc..
Does the LS5 of the 60s make it an LS engine over an LQ9?
How about the L92?
What about the various LT1s?
Stupid and lazy.

Yes. It could be an old carbed sob. It could be an L98. It could be any number of gen 1's. Its silly to call them that. What about gen 2s? A gen 2 in a vette could be an lt1, an lt4, or an lt5 Makes a bit of a difference in my opinion...

You said 'gen 1' that is a SBC. most people don't care that much. SBC, 1pc or 2pc RMS is about all is usually mentioned regarding SBC. The opti'd LT 1 motors are usually called LT1s, that only bothers the guys with the original solid lifter LT1s, but its fun to bother numbers guys lol. In any event its a 350.
yeah i guess it can matter, but only so to some. i don't see 3rd gen guys crying if i call their engine a 350 and not an L98. once the engine is changed or modified i think it matters less. except when ordering parts!
An LS6 is a BBC!
