LT1 peeps question

Is this intake manifold worth getting?

http://www.jegs.com/i/Edelbrock/350/7107/10002/-1

I dont know to much about the LT1 perfomance upogrades but going from a LS1 intake to a aftermarket LS6 or other it is a pretty good power gain. Are the LT1's the same?

The Edelbrock aftermarket manifold is worthless. The plenum is actually smaller. According to the GM High-Tech Performance magazine test, the Edelbrock does not lose power compared to the stocker, on a stock engine. But it does not show enough power gains to make it worth the price.

Not many options intake wise for the LT1 when you wanna keep the heads, etc. stock. Be nice if you could just swap on a LT4 without the heads.

Even swapping on an LT4 intake (if you could) would be a complete waste also.

Been outta the LT1 world for alot of years, never really looked into it because you need the heads also.

Yawp. The LT1 and LT4 intake are internally identical!

I gained 5rwhp/20rwtq with the intake on my H/C car. Not the biggest bang for the buck but I think the gains were mainly due to the better port matching since I also have the Edelbrock heads as well.

I wanted to get the heads ported before I threw them on since I know they are not much better than stock but time wasn't on my side.

IMO, I would go with a ported stock intake and it will be cheaper.

It's definitely safe to say that you didn't pick up that power from the LT4 manifold alone.

Car was dyno'd before the new intake and after with no changes and SAE corrected. I'm not saying I love the intake and it's not the LT4, its just the LT1 air gap by Edelbrock. I mainly bought a totally different casting simply because I had the infamous rear intake oil leak and was tired of messing with the stocker. No more leaks...go figure.
