Good wax for black
Its getting time to give the car a good detailing just wondering what you guy/girls with black cars use, i want it too look like glass. Also i let someone else detail my car last year(big mistake) and there are buffer marks all over the car, does anyone know of anything to take care of that situation??
Thanks

Mequiars makes some of the best products on the market, but you also need the equipment to do it right. You'll need an adjustable or orbital machine buffer. Next are the FOAM buffing pads. They come in several different grades such as for light compounding or polishing or finish polishing. Next would be the swirl remover polish. Do the entire car with this in order to remove any swirl marks left by the last job. Then a finishing polish to give you the ultimate shine. Also get a very fine tooth brush to remove any residue from around emblems and such! Last would be a coat of hand wax and use a micro finish towel to remove this . If your careful to wash the car after this, you may still need to use the hand wax to remove any spider webbing marks that will ALWAYS show up on a BLACK CAR after a very short time. The hand wax will fill in those tiny spider marks and give you that glass finish back again. As long as you can devote your ENTIRE life to polishing your BLACK BABY every week, these tips should keep you in wet pants when you look at it every day!

I've been using Meguiar's Hi-Tech Yellow Wax #26 on my 70 SS396. It looks pretty good, is pretty easy to apply. The car has a 15+ year old paint job and it looks decent. I don't think it lasts as long as it could, but I drive the car almost every week. I know Rich uses something pretty unique on his TA and I may try that out this year. Here's my 70 from this past summer.

I use the the 3 stage Meguire's stuff also the cleaner, polish and wax. I love the stuff makes it look awesome. Only prob is I do all 3 by hand so after a good wash plus those 3 it usually takes me an entire day to do it. Which of course gaurantees that it will rain the following day.

I detail high end cars on the side... the guy obviously didnt know what he was doing with the buffer... the easiest way to fix those marks is to have someone who knows what they are doing buff the car out... as for wax for black i love pinnicle souveran its expensive but its also one of the best... pinnicle sig series 2 is cheaper and works well ...as for store bought stuff meguires is the best youll find locally

I forgot to mention that you might also want to CLAY BAR the entire car FIRST. Best thing in the world to remove surface imperfections and smooth out the surface prior to polishing. If you take your car to a very good detailing shop, it could run you between $175.00 and $200.00 for a complete job to include the motor and the interior. I had my own detailing business for over 20 years and had 6 dealerships I was doing work for.

Rich would know best out of the guys I personally know on here, but for a dark car I'd also suggest trying a glaze instead of a wax. It will fill more of the swirl marks and imperfections in the surface that really show up on black.

In pm's i actually suggested a glaze topped with a wax until he can actually get the swirls removed... problem with glazes is they dont last long 2-4 weeks tops if topped by a wax if not as soon as it rains or sits out for a couple days its gone...but while it is there it looks great and hides minor imperfections (its nice to use to extend full details if your anal about your paint)
