Anyone going to Island?

I'm new to Island Dragway, first year racing there. I've been there a number of times this year. Don't know why it took me so long. I typically would go to E-Town on Wednesday nights (since my car is open exhaust) since it’s less than 25 miles from me. Tried Island for the first time a few months back. What a great track! Not as big as E-Town but much less stressful. At E-Town I typically would end up getting maybe 3 runs on a Wednesday night if I was lucky. At Island I'm averaging 5 runs in 5 hours and that's with me getting back to the pits, taking the hood off, messing around under the hood, giving the batteries some charge time, cooling down the engine and packing the chute. I don't think I've waited much more than 30 minutes in the lanes before making a run. Just seems everyone is friendly. I don't know what it's like there on a competition day but test and tune is great. Cutting my best 60-foot times and best ET too.

If you see me down there stop by and say hi! I'm the black 1992 Camaro slammed to the ground with the big scoop usually running 8's on a good day.

I hope to be there this Sunday if the weather looks decent. One of these days the planets will align and I'm going to click off an 8.8 run!

There are a few of us that go a lot, but we're kind of dwindling down now until next year.
I always try and post up when I'm going.

The car in your avatar looks almost identical to another guy there, Howie Handwerger <not sure on the spelling. He is also in the 8's. I am usually there every Saturday, my last trip out this year will be to Atco with the guys next Sunday. Island is a great place to race, a lot of knowledgeable racers and always willing to help if you need it. E-Town gets more out of control every year. Good Luck this weekend.

I've been there maybe 5-6 times this year and haven't seen anyone with a similar car yet. I agree, I'd rather drive the extra 20 minutes to race at Island and get more runs. It does seem to get nuttier and nuttier at E-Town each year. Even with the added elevation of Island I seem to go faster there.

Even Ferret-Boy's been to Island. The two of you need to get real jobs that let you race more!
