If you could buy any car...
brand new, under $30k, what would you get? I'm graduating after this school year and and am counting down the days until I can start shopping (once I have a job offer of course)! The problem is a majority of the cars I like either aren't made anymore or would be out of my price range haha (ZR1 anyone?)

2012 WRX. Fun, 4 door, good in all weather and pretty much the same as an STI with some minor changes, 1 less gear and smaller brakes.

Depends on your needs. You want only new or will consider used?
Being economical, the Cruze Diesel would be a nice option out of school. Comfortable, great mileage and good overall car. The Subaru's are fun but the mileage isn't much to talk about and the insurance rates will kill you being young.
Not being economical, I would buy a used C6 if possible or a really nice C5Z. Insurance won't be attractive with this either but meh....

05.5 and up Dmax, short of the new stuff, usually go mid $20s, buy a built trans and all the mods, throw a 200hp tune on it, success.

Never assume! Although I believe Cait would throw most people off.
And never assume you can go outside of someone's guidelines when they explicitly state something

We can debate this somewhere else but I've never seen the name spelled that way. This is the internet, I can assume what I want and have nothing to lose.
Back to the topic, Miss Caitlin, if you are keeping the TA, then you may want to go for something purely economical. The GTO and G8 are nice options and certainly more comfortable, the fuel efficiency may of concern. I don't know what kind of commute you have or your priorities but since you are young, get more toys . If you are thinking long term, get something cheap and efficient while still meeting your needs. You have been given many good options here.

Agreed. If you are keeping your toy car, buy something economical and easy to deal with. Having a daily car helps if you have to do something like haul dirty parts, park in an airport parking lot for a few days, drive people around, etc. Stuff you may not think about now, but if you keep the car for a few years you might have a need then. After filling with premium gas, buying 275/40s, synthetic oil changes, and such start to add up.

Personally I would be shopping for a new Malibu, but the Sonic or Cruze would both be a good option for you. As has been mentioned, the Cruze diesel is supposed to be available around the middle of next year, so that would definitely be something to keep in mind.
