Thumbs down My clutch is going!

Heh, finding out that it is original. The pedal makes a creaking/squeaking noise when I push it in and feels lighter with less grab. Trying to get some info before I replace it.. car has 112k on it and I'm wondering what the cost of replacing it is. Also how hard is it to do yourself? It still doesn't slip and gets going, how many miles can you estimate it will go until its dead?

baby the poop out of it and it will last...

depending on the clutch you replace it with ... i think i spend roughly 500 on an LS7 clutch kit and 500 putting it in..

i also replaced all the hydrolic parts... so roughly 1000 bucks if you go LS7

Not sure about on the LSx style transmissions but the LTx style has clutches for $250; I suggest having the flywheel looked at as well. If it's perfectly flat still you can scrub it with some sand paper lightly.

It's relatively simple to change but it sucks without a lift. Only thing you have to make sure of is that you recenter the clutch/pressure plate properly but it's kind of hard to mess up. I've put clutches in by eye and they have worked fine.

It's a V6 not a V8 so I'm not sure if that'll give a difference in price for the clutch costs.
I don't have a lift x.x

The logical choice is Josh at JS Performance since he's not that far. I don't know what he can do for V6's but the clutches for the V8's have dropped some times at the track. I think a few members are running them with good results both on the track and just around town, daily driving. It's worth giving him a call.

For what its worth, Josh did a clutch on my buddy's 01 V6 Fbody. It is a great clutch. Needless to say, I have a JS clutch as well.
