Turbo Hotside Leak Testing

Ideas, suggestions, sorry for your loss cards, etc...

Pretty sure I have a leak, drove me nuts last season and didn't ever connect that it was a leak vs loose rocker.

Somewhere in there.

I was going to post a sympathy card for laughs but WOW are some of them insanely creepy.

Anyway, do you have a way to pressurize that side with compressed air to listen? Maybe rig something up?

That was the plan, attempt to plug up the downpipe and give it a few psi.

Just trying to brainstorm ideas, if any one has seen the engine bay, working with the hot side suuuucks. So don't wanna do anything without weighing options.

Short of a home made smoke machine, thats out as an option.

make a seal plug for the tailpipe with a fitting you can hook up an air line to from a compressor. Then use a small smoke bomb, light it, toss it in, and seal it up. Pressurize it with air and look for leak.

edit: i may have a few spare smoke bombs lol

Can we use a stink bomb instead? I like the idea Paul.

I use a mechanics stethoscope with a long thin copper tube on the end and check all connections. If you do have a leak there will usually be some carbon evidence around the area. Also during cold morning start up water tends to run out of any leaks in the system.
