limit of Nitrous?

im just curious, at drag strips, is there a maximum amount of nitrous oxide you are allowed to have in your vehicle? i'm not talking about the size of the shot, but like the bottles. You've all probably seen the typical ricers with say 2 10lb bottles, and i'm sure there are some out there with even more. But say could you legally run with 2 20lb bottles in your vehicle, or is 1 20lb max, or 2 10s etc, you get what im asking? lol Some people may have cars that run larger shots of nitrous and may benifit them to have more on hand if they make many runs, or would the weight of a second tank negate the purpose? and better off just to have a 2nd tank and swap them mid-day?

I'm not sure if there is a maximum amount.

I've run dual 10 lb tanks at the track and no one has complained.

I've seen some drag racing events where cars had dual 20 lb tanks.

Here's a link to the NJ Nitrous Transport Permit.

http://www.mudinthepines.com/id39.html

Aside from having a permit to transport the stuff I've never heard of a track limiting the amount of nitrous/bottles you can run.

Not to be a downer, but why?

I am pretty sure Bill's 434 only sucks on one bottle... extra bottles would just mean a lot of extra weight...

no limit that i know of although i think 2 bottles is enuf. 1 extra bottle not gonna slow you down, if anything mounted in rear give you a hair more weight @ the rear tires on launch

Not to run it but to transport it, yes.

Hmm... so I'm assuming that if I were to get pulled over with a full 10lb bottle in the trunk, I would be ticketed.. Would that be the case?

If it is plain view, they can search the car as it is probable cause.

They can remove the nitrous system right then and there.

I have run nitrous for the past 8 years and have always gotten a nitrous permit.

Can they really remove it on the spot? I've been told that if your car is street legal and system is completely off, bottle closed etc, that having nitrous installed is legit.

There is no law regulating a nitrous setup in the car, but in order to transport nitrous, you must have a permit. The bottle must be closed anytime you are on a public road. If your car is otherwise in order, your bottle is closed, and you have a permit for the nitrous, you are in the clear.

I should have added tht last bit - justin is right.

If the bottle is off, you are fine - if it is open then by by nitrous
