Does the SES light cause the computer to pull timing or fuel?

On my way to Giants stadium autox today I stopped and filled on the Turnpike. The gas jockey didn't put my gas cap on right and as a result my SES light tripped on when I got back on the TP. When I got to Giants stadium I put the cap on correctly after realizing it was the cause. But computer didn't reset (3 on off cool down cycles?) itself until I was on my way home at the end of the day. So during the autox I ran with SES light on and the car felt down on power, just slightly, not smooth and rev happy like usual.

So either I am losing my mind or SES light was putting the engine in some sort of limp mode and robbing power from the firechicken.

Still a good day at the autox though......

Chris

The evap code will not send the ecm into limp mode if your car was down on power you should probably look elsewhere...

Right. My wife's '03 Liberty currently has an evap code that is not the gas cap (I gotta look underneath for a busted vacuum line) but the truck still runs the same, and even pulls down ~23mpg on the highway with the AC on at 70mph.

It reallly depends on the code, if its a maf code it can affect both timing & fueling, if its an o2 code probably just fueling, anything in between can affect in different ways.
