drum question

i have a 95 firebird with drum brakes in the back. they're making some noise (i'm pretty sure its the rear brakes making the noise) when i brake...a screech not unlike the sound you hear when disc brakes are down to the warning track, except it seems like a "looser" sound. it will go away if i brake hard enough. i'm not quite familiar with drum setups. i took the wheel off and everything seemed ok to me...what should i be looking for?

If rivits aren't hitting, then maybe dust buildup, glaze on drums, maybe adjustment.

Feather-light suspension, Konis just couldn't hold. I'm so glad I took a look inside your showroom doors.
