yup. It was holding on the bolts for the tubular pieces (on the main bar), so I was able to use a body hammer and knock in part of the supports on the hood where the bolts were hitting.

when i was scoping around for my stb i discovered quite a few opinions and instances where it puts too much stress on the firewall and can actually rip it in really hard cornering. i just went with the two point and still noticed a big difference.

We learned the danger of STBs in health class.

ok sorry, i couldnt resist
anyway, i did hear complaints that the 3 points can crack windsheilds in 4th gens but i havent heard of 3rd gen problems, I would just recommend to anyone who does a 3 point one(just to be safe) to install or already have a wonder bar tying the front frame together from below. Â*i had a 3 point in my 88 iroc with the 383 and never had a problem with that 3rd mount, i even twisted the body, but never broke the windsheild. Â*for my 4th gens, i will only do a 2 point however.

My iroc came stock with a wonderbar (came with the factory 16" wheels)...but I have plans for a TDS one...I have some flex in my steering and I think it may be the stock 89 piece with 275 tires. I'd like to slowly upgrade each component..sway bars, bushings, end links, LCA's, SFC's, panhard..etc

I've had a three point shock tower brace on my 4th Gen for over 10 years. The windshield is still in one piece. I have only been able to verify one case of a broken windshield in a 4th Gen, and that was a guy who went off the road and into a ditch. I think the "broken windshield" thing is urban legend.

wow, just saw this now I know I know, I need the centerbolt looms. The chevy orange looks good, thats why I did it. I polished the plenum, painted those inserts orange, painted my runners aluminum and the valve covers orange. It's classic. Though I may snag my dads valve covers off the 93 pickup, they're those aluminum ones with the chevy bowtie on em, we'll see.

I had picked up a set of cool Chevy Bow Tie Center bolt valve cover looms for the 87. They seemed to hold the 8.5 wires pretty good, but didnt take any pics of them on the car.

I was actually talking to one of my friends who does R&D for road race cars. He said the 3 point "Could" crack the firewall or the windshield through extensive body flex be it caused by a bump, strong engine or a hardcore motor. It is however VERY unlikely unless the car has been in a previous accident or does not have a staright body. In his opinion if you want to be safe from it happening put on a set of SFC's to keep the chassis from torquing and it would virtually eliminate the possibility of the problem.

yeah, I was gonna say a three point wouldnt crack the windshield unless the body was flexing. SFC's will stop that. Besides, I would think that the three point would rip the lip of the firewall before it would crack the windshield.
